Formby Shopwatch In Action!

On Monday 7th September, Helen Fidler (37 yrs) from Crosby was arrested and charged with two counts of theft from Marks & Spencer in Formby. She is due to appear at Sefton Magistrates Court on 23rd September 2015.
The primary objectives of the Shopwatch Scheme are to reduce & prevent crime, develop awareness of the issue amongst staff and bring offenders to justice.
Police Shopwatch - Formby
To tackle the increase in reported Theft from shop offences in the Formby area, especially Formby Village
Worked with Local Businesses and staff to reduce recorded crime and target offenders.
Re-launched the Formby Shopwatch Scheme.
Worked with colleagues from British Transport Police to target offenders using the railway network.
Increased foot patrol in Formby Village.
Worked closely with local businesses to minimise the opportunity for theft and provided crime prevention advice.
We have targeted known suspects. Using this information & Intelligence has led to the arrest of known serial offenders.
Merseyside Police continue to work with retailers in the Formby area to promote the scheme.
