Formby Beavers group desperate for new leader
ONE of the oldest scouting groups in England is in fear of closing down, after it was revealed that the Beaver Scouts of the First Formby Scout Group no longer has a leader. The club, who have been a registered scout group since 1909, are in danger of closing down if a new Beaver Scout leader is not found before the end of July. Formby Group Scout Leader, Nick Greenwood explained that for the past year the club have just about managed to keep the Beavers going with the help of other leaders from other sections, but they are now in urgent need to recruit an individual to take responsibility for running the club from September onwards. If no one is found before then, the club have no choice but to close at the end of July. Nick said: “The Beavers are the youngest section of the Scout Association and cater for both boys and girls aged from five to eight, until they move onto Cubs. ”Their programme is orientated around the Scout programme and includes outdoor activities such as camping and fire lighting as well as plenty of craft activities. “Anyone volunteering to take on this fulfilling role will be fully supported by the Group, and training from the Scout Association, which is recognised as Leadership training by the Institute of Leadership and Management, a worthwhile addition to anyone's CV.” Anyone wanting further information should contact Nick Greenwood on 07787 196538.
