Lorry fire closes Western Expressway on run up to Widnes - Runcorn Bridge and M56

Traffic is building up on both sides of the bridge as emergency services battle to control the blaze and get the road clear.
The road is a crucial transport link for the whole region, with traffic closures in place to keep drivers safe.
Repercussions will be felt as far away as the Ford Road coming out of Liverpool, across Widnes, and through Runcorn to the M56 motorway.
The lorry is on the expressway at the junction of Rocksavage. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek an alternative route.
The fire is causing large plumes of smoke and anyone seeing it should ensure they keep their window and doors closed as a precaution.
