Formby Bubble has an update on the ongoing repairs to Wicks Lake bridge, and while the work has taken a little longer than first expected, the results are already looking fantastic and will definitely be worth the wait.
As many will know, repairing older structures isn’t always straightforward. Once work begins, the full extent of what needs doing often becomes clearer – and that’s exactly what happened here.
The National Trust ranger team, supported by their brilliant regular volunteers, have now re-built almost the entire bridge. The improvements mean the walkway will feel much smoother and far less bumpy, making crossings more enjoyable and much safer for everyone. Most importantly, the work ensures the bridge will stand strong for many years to come.
They’re now into the final stages – tidying up the last few details and completing essential safety checks. The aim is to reopen the bridge by the end of December, just in time for those winter walks we all love.
A big thank you to the community for your patience and understanding while this important work has been underway.
