REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 14 Blacks Saturday team played Ormskirk West End on a very heavy pitch at Buckley Hill. The Blacks definitely had the upper hand in the first half limiting Ormskirk to just one chance. Although dominating possession FJSC could not make the breakthrough. The second half was more open but the pitch began to sap energy from both teams. The final score was 0-0 . Credit togoalkeeper Ben Gregory and the back four for keeping a clean sheet. Man of the Match was Oskar Wood who had a great game inmidfield.
On Sunday FJSC Under 14 Blacks played exceptionally well against a very good JFC Jogo. Despite suffering a narrow 2 nil defeat the match showed how far the team has progressed this season. The team’s work rate and application was first class. Possessionwas about even and clear cut chances were even too but unfortunately FJSC were notclinical enough when chances presented themselves.
There were lots of solid individualperformances in very heavy conditions. Connor Howells and Jen Heron shone again.Lucas Lewis was resolute and Henry Wynne, Joe Tucker and Oskar Wood worked well for each other. The Man of the Match award wentto Harry Redhead who stuck to his task in three different positions.
FJSC Under 13 Whites travelled to Chesterfield High School to take on a strong Marina Sands team in the cup semi-final. The boys put in an unbelievable effort and were unlucky not to be ahead at half time with the Sands keeper making a good save from Zac Hooson Jones. The boys continued to stand up well to the strong opposition and continued to create changes with Archie Marron a constant threat. Marina did eventually break down a resolute defence and although the final 5-0score flattered their opponents FJSC finished the stronger team. There were excellent defensive performances from JacobUnderwood and Noah Lace but Man of the Match went to Jasper Lucas who continues to impress in his first full season of competitive football.
FJSC Under 13 Blacks Sunday team played their first game for a long time in the Craven Minor League against top of the table BootleFC.
FJSC started the game well and took the lead via Charlie Richardson goal. With FJSC seemingly in control a good equalising goalwas scored by Bootle. Caden Walker then scored a goal from a corner before half time which made it 2-1 to FJSC.
At the start of the second half FJSC were awarded a penalty which was unfortunately missed. Bootle soon equalised afterwards to make the score 2-2. Seb Goatley then burst through to make the score 3-2 to FJSC. With end to end football Bootle then equalised to make it 3-3. Ellis Coyne then scored from a corner to make it 4-3 with not long left. There was still time though for Bootle to equalise to make it 4-4.
With a minute to go, FJSC were awarded their second penalty which with the final kick of the game was put over the crossbar. It was a very exciting match with FJSC leading four times only for Bootle to equalise four times.
FJSC Saturday Under 13 Blacks went into thegame with Town Green on the back of a good result the week before and took the lead within the first minute via a good through ball by Finley Scott which Charlie Richardson finished. On a tough pitch, the team struggled to get a hold of the game and by half time found themselves 2-1 down.
Two quick fire goals from Town Green saw FJSC 4-1 down early in the second half. FJSC battled back with two good goals from Louis Evans and Caden Walker which reduced the deficit to just one goal. FJSC pushed for an equaliser but ultimately ran out of time and lost 4-3.
FJSC Under 12 Whites Saturday team won 3 nil against Crosby Athletic. Sonny Callister scored twice and Zac Cooper was also on the score sheet. It was a very good team performance.
FJSC Under 12 Blacks Saturday team continued their excellent form with a very impressive 7-1 win against Maghull Yellow. Joseph Kenyon opened the scoring in the first half thanks to an assist from Tom Murphy. Finn McDerby doubled the lead before the interval. James Coulton added a third goal in the second half before Maghull fought back with a goal. Jacob Gadsby, Joseph Kenyon and Tom Murphy then scored one goal each before Tom Murphy’s assist for Jasper House to score a seventh goal. FJSC Under 12 Blacks move into second place in the league.
FJSC Under 12 Whites Sunday team recorded a 6-1 victory over Parklands
FJSC Under 12 Reds lost 3-1 to Southport FCCommunity Yellows.
On a wet, cold and thoroughly miserable morning FJSC Under 11 Blacks played away at Burscough Dynamo Green. FJSC Blacks produced a performance that was anything but dreary, running out winners again to continue their remarkable 100% record this season.
From the opening whistle, the FJSC looked sharp and confident despite the heavy conditions. The breakthrough came with a moment of quality as Alex Rowley unleashed a superb long-range strike to make it 1–0. The lead was quickly doubled when Ash Jones showed great awareness to assist Adam Tyler-Holland, who finished confidently to put Formby firmly in control. Goal number three followed in spectacular fashion. Asher Fields spotted his opportunity and delivered a beautifully looping shot from at least twenty yards, leaving the goalkeeper stranded and extending the advantage. The same combination struck again for the fourth. IdrisJones played a superb long through ball, splitting the defence, and Asher Fields calmly slotted home for his second of the game.
The Blacks showed no sign of easing off. Jack Hansen provided the assist for Alex Rowley, who powered home his second goal of the match. The final two goals perfectly summed up the season the team are having. Ashley Jones assisted Alex Rowley to complete an excellent individual performance, before Adam Tyler-Holland, battling bravely against a stubborn defence all game, forced a save from the goalkeeper; the rebound fell kindly to Ethan Catleugh, who gratefully slotted home the final goal to round off a dominant display.
At the other end of the pitch, special mention must go to Asher Fields and Joseph Kerrigan, who both stepped up superbly to cover for the absent Max Byford in goal. Their positioning, awareness and determination ensured the clean sheet . The Man of the Match award was deservedly presented to Adam Tyler-Holland, who covered every wet blade of grass and led by example throughout.
FJSC Under 11 Gold faced a tough challenge against Crosby Stuart. With no substitutes available compared to the opposition’s four, the team had to work hard throughout the match and showed great resilience. Despite terrible weather conditions, the players kept their heads up and never stopped competing. Defensively there were some strong spells, with blocks and clearances. The defenders allshowed determination and commitment. Moving forward, the team will be looking to apply more pressure higher up the pitch to stop attacks earlier and reduce the workload on the defence. Overall it was difficult match for the Gold team, but there was a great attitude and togetherness. Player of the Match was Gabriel Doran.
FJSC Under 10 Whites were in action against FC Sandgrounders. After a good start by the Whites three goals were conceded. JoshuaGillespie came close to scoring from a free kick but was denied by a very good save by the Sandgrounders goalkeeper. FJSC’s Elliott Dyment scored a great goal just before half time. Sandgrounders added a few more goals to their tally in the second half despite a brave effort by the FJSC team. Man of the Match was Theo Cavanagh who played very well in defence. See the squad photograph above.
FJSC Under 10 Blacks endured a tough morning against a very strong Southport Trinity Whites . From the opening minutes it was clear Trinity were a step ahead, with their pacey wingers repeatedly breaking down the flanks and causing problems for the FJSC defence. Wave after wave of attacks followed, and the home side found themselves under constant pressure as Trinity’s finishing matched their dominance. By half time, the visitors had built a commanding lead.
With the rain still falling in the second half, FJSC showed real spirit and determination and focused on keeping the score down while pushing for a consolation goal. They created a few decent chances and were unlucky not to find the net, forcing the Trinity goalkeeper into making several excellent saves.
FJSC Under 9 Blacks played Marina Sands forthe first time season. Thanks to the 3G pitch it was a fast-paced game and the Blacks were more than up for the challenge. Ted Middleton worked hard up-front causing problems for Marina’s defence and was unlucky on a couple of occasions not to find the back of the net. Eventually Ted found a way through to giveFJSC the lead. Marina Sands then equalised in the final minute of the first half.
Marina Sands came out strongly in the second half and put a lot of pressure on the Black’sdefence. As a result Oscar Craven and James Taylor had to be at their best. Harley Rae showed how his confidence and ability in goal has come along this season making some good saves. Teddy Ball and Sam O’Brien both worked relentlessly up and down the wingscreating many chances which just didn’t come off on the day. Theo Dunn who has alsogrown in confidence was unlucky when his shot went wide. Isaac Murphy worked tirelessly in midfield supporting both defence and attack when needed .
Half way through the second half MarinaSands had a long shot that went ion off the post and appeared not to have gone in but unfortunately it did. Undeterred the Blacks went in search of an equaliser. Charlie Barnes was moved up front and from a pass scored a well taken goal to level the score on his debut.
It was an impressive team display and Man of the Match was awarded to Ted Middleton. The referee also complimented Ted on his performance.
FJSC Under 9 Red had an entertaining game with Churchtown sharing eight goals in a thriller by the seaside. With only seven fit and available players the team defied the odds and played strong front foot attacking play throughout. There were stand out performances from goal scorers Ray Burkett and Man of the Match Isaac Kamel. Lucas Kelly also scored.
FJSC Under 8 Whites Sunday just gained the upper hand against a resilient Southport FC Community team in a thirteen goal feast.
Rex Friday was outstanding in goal, keeping a first-half clean sheet. Corey Flynn and JimmyDuckworth were solid in defence and composed going forward. Izzy Radcliffeworked tirelessly, chasing down defenders and creating chances for herself and others and was unlucky not to score. Up front, CianO’Farrell netted a hat-trick, Jack Keffordscored two goals before switching to rugby, and Tom Babun impressed out wide with some smart, mazey runs, cutting inside and grabbing himself two goals. Man of the Match was Rex Friday. It was back-to-back wins for FJSC Under 8 Whites. Well done everyone.
FJSC Under 7 Whites hit the ground runningin the match against 360 Coaching Inter with the ruthless attacking pairing of Kayden Dowdell, who scored twice, and McEddy Osei Assibey with a hat trick moving FJSC into a comfortable lead. The 360 coaching team got back into the game with three excellent goals. FJSC continued the hard work with ShayanPalin making some timely challenges. William Laughly did brilliantly as well as making two passes to Toby Woodcock who took his goals well. Toby showed determination throughoutthe game which was capped off with another goal to complete a hat trick and deservedly was Man of the Match.
