Residents in the surrounding area are being advised that training activity at Altcar Camp may result in louder than usual noise on Saturday afternoon, 7 February 2026.
The Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for the North West of England and the Isle of Man has confirmed that 103 Regiment Royal Artillery will be on site carrying out a planned training exercise.
As part of the exercise, the regiment will be using L118 Light Guns firing blank rounds only. There will be no live firing, however the sound may travel and be noticeable in nearby communities.
103 Regiment Royal Artillery is made up of reservists from across the North West, including Liverpool, St Helens, Bolton, Manchester and Wolverhampton. In addition to their artillery role, the regiment has recently been developing new skills involving small drones and ground based sensor cameras.
The training taking place this weekend forms part of their ongoing preparation to ensure they remain skilled, effective and ready in their operational roles.
The information is being shared to keep residents fully informed about what to expect and to thank the local community for their continued understanding and support as neighbours of Altcar Camp.
