Thirteen wins out of eighteen for Formby Junior Sports Club last weekend - Franks report here

It was a fantastic weekend of results for Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams with thirteen wins from eighteen matches played.  One of the new teams FJSC Under 9 Reds, recorded their first ever win in competitive football.  Other highlights included a first victory for FJSC Under 14 Blacks in the Skelmerdale Junior League,  a 7 nil win for FJSC Under 13 Blacks which takes them to top of the Craven Minor League Under 13 Championship Division and four out of four successful results for the FJSC Under 10 teams.   At Inter Club it was also a very pleasing Saturday morning session with new members joining in all age groups as numberscontinue to grow.

FJSC Under 9 Reds played away against Southport Athletic Whites. After an even first fifteen minutes FJSC took control of the game with chances for Zidane Reeves-Gendia, Rafi Omar and Seb Houghton narrowly missing. Against the run of play Southport Athleticscored just before half time.

The Reds came out for the second half and battled hard to control the game with some brilliant work from the Josh Robinson andOliver McMahon-Sinnott in defence. This paid off with Seb Houghton putting a great ball into the box for Adam Tyler- Holland to capitalise on and score the equaliser. FJSCcontinued to push for a winner which came when Josh Robinson gave the ball to Adam Tyler- Holland who jinxed his way past Southport’s defence to score a brilliant goal to seal the win.

FJSC had some great chances with two free kicks from Isaac Ignatowicz and Archie Taylor narrowly going wide. Southport pushed for an equaliser with the Reds goalkeeper Luke Madutlela having to rush out to clear the ball on a number of occasions.  Athletic continued to attack and would have scored if Archie Taylor hadn’t intervened with some superb defending to calmly run the ball out of defence and back into attack. It was great team effort by all with the whole team playing brilliantly. Man of the match was Kian Turleyfor his endless drive and tackling which spurred his team on to earn a hard fought victory.

The FJSC Under 9 Reds were wearing their brand new kit for the first time kindlysponsored by Formby Pool Trust and CPT Building Solutions Ltd.  The new kit certainly brought good luck to the team with their first win.  Well done boys and also to team manager Simon Ignatowicz.   See the squad photograph above of the very smart and happy squad.

FJSC Under 14 Blacks travelled to Skelmersdale to play their first ever match in the Skelmersdale Junior League.  Their opponents were Clock Face Ravens.  Playing uphill and against the wind FJSC played wellto reach half time 0-0.  In the second half FJSC took an early lead  through Archie Ogden and shortly after Luca Massey headed home from a corner. Thomas Prior, Archie Ogden again, plus a Ravens own goal gave the Under 14’s an eventual 5-2 win.

FJSC Under 13s Black played away atSouthport FC and set the tone straight fromthe kick off as they showed lots of attacking intent. The first goal came from Ethan Richmond who went on a strong run through the middle and finished with a low shot past the Southport keeper only a couple of minutes into the match.  Patrick Fleming then created and scored the second goal as he first flicked the ball over the defence before hitting  a volley into the top corner.FJSC scored two more goals before half time, one from Josh Kearney who collected a through ball and then beat the keeper at the far post to make it 3-0, and the other was scored by Ethan Murphy as he controlled a pass on the edge of the box and then fired the ball high into the net to give FJSC a deserved 4-0 leadat the interval. In the second half FJSC continued to dominate the game and added three more goals to the score line.  The first was an own goal which came after Ollie Dean broke clear of the defence and as he tried to go round the keeper, the ball deflected back into the goal off an unfortunate defender. The second was a lovely close-range volley from Ethan Murphy, and the final goal came from a short corner on the left, from which Ollie Dean drove into the box and scored at the near post to make it 7 nil.

This was an excellent all round team performance with the defence providing a solid foundation and Riley Higgs in goal even coming up with a couple of assists with his long range passing.  Man of the Match went to Ethan Tucker for his commanding performance at the back.  After two matches the Under 13’s sit proudly at the top of the league.

FJSC Under 12 Whites were in action at home to Southport Trinity Blue.  Trinity took the lead before a lovely through ball from WilliamMadutlela found Lucas Lewis who equalised with a fantastic strike coming in from the left wing. Southport Trinity took their chances and led 5-1 at half time but the Whites were still fully in the game. William Madutlela got his head on the end of a long Ben Harris throw to make it 5-2.  Trinity finished strongly to record a 9-2 win.  The FJSC boys kept on going to the end and can be proud of their efforts in a discipline performance which will hold them in good stead in future matches.

FJSC Under 11 Whites had a tough game against a strong Churchtown Jags team. FJSC started well and took the lead with a long range free kick from Archie Weir. Both teams had chances in an entertaining half with Churchtown being more clinical in the final third. Churchtown’s quality showed through in the second half and they ran out clear winners, despite heroics from FJSC goalkeeper and Man of the Match Matthew Crutchley.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks pl;ayed at Buckley Hill against Silcox Blacks and continued their good start to the season after a good midweek result.   Silcox took a first half lead but the second half saw FJSC take control after scoring four goals in the first five minutes.  The whole team played some great passing  and shored up at the back to run out comfortable winners.  Ellis Coyne, Charlie Richardson and Caden Walker all scored two goals each.  Ben Webster also scored.  Man of the match was Ellis Coyne.

The FJSC Under 11 Black’s Sunday match against Ormskirk West End Whites started at a frantic pace with chances at both ends with Oscar Phillips keeping his clean sheet intact with a great save after ten minutes. After fifteen minutes FJSC settled down into their usual passing rhythm and after great link up play between Louis O’Connor and Caden Walker set up Charlie Richardson for his first goal of the match.

From that point onwards FJSC kicked on with Ellis Coyne gaining control in the middle of the park and Luke Millington’s none stop running and clever use of space to create chances for the team. By half time FJSC were 4-0 up.

The second half continued much in the same way with Ben Webster’s lung busting runs causing havoc in the oppositions defence.

Charlie Burton, Leo Fagan and Alex Barr were as calm as ever in defence ensuring FJSC played out from the back while limiting a very pacey Ormskirk attack to only a handful of chances in the whole game. Alfie Forsyth once again showed what a versatile player he is by playing on the wing, midfield and defence. FJSC Under 11 Black scorers were Caden Walker with four goals, Charlie Richardson three and Louis O’Connor two goals. Louis O’Connor was man of the match with his none stop work rate.

Passing the ball out from the back, Isaac Rimmer, Josh Halpin, Zac McHugh and Huey Stevenson all got on the ball, before KaydenWatters finished coolly to complete his hat trick and to secure the win.

In another good team display.  Isaac Rimmer defended well.  Jaiden Crosby, Zac McHugh, Josh Halpin and Chris Clarke all impressed in midfield ,regularly breaking down play and switching the play and building attacks.

More goals followed from Henry Williamson, James Smith, Jack Haggart,  Isaac Ade and Isaac Higgins in a good team display.

The Southport goalkeeper putin an incredible performance making save after save until Jack Haggart took matters into his own hands with a mesmerising run past three defenders before striking home the opening goal.  FJSC hit top form and added goals to the score line.  A special mention goes to Seb Hodgson who put in a fine performance grabbing himself four goals but also displayed composure on the ball and kept the team playing passing football. James Smith and Isaac Ade continued their fine form with the pair each grabbing a brace each. The result was capped off with Henry Williamson poaching his goal in the final minutes.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks were involved in another very exciting home match against excellent opponents. Southport FC Yellow.  It was a well fought game that could have gone either way. Ashley Jones, Frankie Bohan and Jack Hansen all got on the score sheet for the Blacks. There was some excellent saves by goalkeeper Max Byford. There was also agreat penalty taken by Olly Stinson, which warranted an outstanding save by the Southport goalkeeper. It was a very good all round team performance which included amagnificent game from Jackson Ebo to secure him the Man of the Match trophy.

FJSC Under 8 Whites had another brilliant game against Redgate Rovers Black.  The game started with FJSC on the front foot. There were some impressive displays from Redgate allowing them to slip through to open the scoring.  Formby slightly flustered from allowing Redgate to slip through managed to regain their concentration when Charlie Ormesher, with some impressive dribbling managed to slide the ball into the net to equalise.

With the game going from end to end a slight error from the Redgate defence passed the ball straight to Oliver Parrish who managed to shoot from just inside the Redgate half chipping the keeper for a magnificent goal. Charlie Vernon had an impressive display harassing the Redgate attackers which allowedthe Whites to counter attack on a few occasions. Harry Hughes was a machine and was also able to get himself on the scoresheetwith an incredible freekick from just inside the opposition half.

Also on the scoresheet was Austin Faraday who managed to score two goals with clear breakaways on both occasions allowing FJSC to open up  the lead in this thrilling high scoring game. Man of the match was awarded to Joshua Gillespie for his outstanding performance in defence.

FJSC Black Under 8s had their second game of the season against Crosby Stuart and second overall as a new team.  FJSC battled well in the first half and all the players did well in keeping their positions and working as a team.  The Blacks were a little unlucky to be trailing at half time.

As the game went on Alfie Alston and Jack Brown got on the score sheet which was assisted by great play down the wing by Alfie Madigan. There were some great saves by Jarvis Evans in goal that kept FJSC in the game.  A hardworking Joseph Woodward was unlucky not to score.
