There were  good results for some of Formby Junior Sports Club’s teams at the weekend including the two Under 13 Blacks teams.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 15 Black faced a much improved and strengthened FCFC and narrowly finished 3-2 winners. FJSC struggled to break down the resurgent FCFC in the first half with a couple of great saves from the FCFC keeper. The breakthrough came when Ben Harris opening the scoring in the final minute of the first half after a composed tap in inside the left post after breaking through.

The manager emphasised the need for a quick start in the second half. Lucas Lewis and Oskar Wood delivered in the 50th minute after some determined play by Oscar in the final third led to a through ball to Lucas who calmly slotted in from the left.  The two-goal cushion didn’t last long and FCFC scored three minutes later from their first and only corner.

The next twenty saw chances at either end, but a moment of quick thinking from Oskar Woodand a moment of brilliance from Will Madutlela, who dribbled through on goal, fell, sprung back up and delivered a cross from the right to Elliot Dixon who headed home on the 6-yard box in the 72nd minute, putting the game beyond reach for FCFC.  A late consolation for FCFC in the 79th minute meant the scoreline finished 3-2 in favour of Formby Junior Sports Club.

Man of the Match wasWillMadutlelafor his right decision making at the right time. There were also good performances fromgoalkeeperWill Hill,JensonHeronwho battled well at centre-back,OskarWoodin midfield and some assured set pieces/dead ball deliveries from LucasLewis. See team photograph above.

FJSC Under 16 Blacks played against SkemYouth in a very tight match and were unlucky not to come away with at least a point. In a close first half, FJSC had most of the possession and played some excellent football but couldn’t find the breakthrough their play deserved. Skem Youth then hit two long range efforts against the run of play that put them 2 – 0 up at the break.

In the second half, FJSC lost a key defender after a clash of heads and then lost their goalkeeper to injury leaving them with only ten fit players. Skem capitalised, by winning and then converting a penalty. FJSC pushed hard and eventually won a penalty themselves after some good wing play from Sami Abdelhamid, who then stepped up to score. FJSC came close to adding a second with a header from Ollie Dean, but his effort was well saved and the match finished 3 – 1.

FJSC Under 15 Whites lost 4 nil away at Crosby Stuart in the cup and hope for better fortune next Saturday when they play the same opponents in the league.

FJSC Under 14 Black Saturday team produced a superb all-round performance to record a 14-0 victory over Forefield White, with the result never looking in doubt from the opening stages.  From the first whistle, FJSC played with confidence, intensity and purpose, dominating possession and moving the ball quickly through the thirds. Their attacking play was a constant threat, with excellent movement off the ball creating space and numerous opportunities in front of goal. FJSC put together some outstanding phases of play, combining intelligent passing, strong support runs and excellent decision-making to repeatedly break down the opposition. The players showed great awareness and composure, maintaining their shape while attacking with real intent. Defensively, FJSC were equally impressive. The team pressed aggressively when out of possession, won the ball back quickly and limited Forefield White to very few opportunities. Their concentration and work rate remained high throughout, ensuring the clean sheet was never under threat.

Despite building a comfortable lead, FJSC refused to take their foot off the pedal. The players continued to play with energy and discipline, sticking to their principles and producing quality football right through to the final whistle. The goals continued to flow as a result of their teamwork, creativity and clinical finishing. This was a highly professional display from FJSC and a performance that reflected the hard work being put in by the entire squad. It was a dominant victory with some excellent passages of football, and an attitude that remained focused from start to finish. Charlie Richardson scored a double hat trick. SebGoatley and Louis Goodman scored two goals each.  Also on the scoresheet with one goal each were Caden Walker, Isaac Jones, Oscar Buch-Platt and Joss Burr.

On Sunday FJSC Under 14 Black delivered a highly professional and disciplined performance against Kirkby Town. From the opening whistle, FJSC stuck to their game plan superbly. Their organisation, work rate and quality in possession allowed them to control much of the first half, and they were rewarded with a deserved goal to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

The second half saw FJSC raise their level even further. Continuing to move the ball well and create chances, they extended their advantage with two more well-worked goals to put themselves firmly in control at 3-0. Kirkby Town managed to pull a goal back, reducing the deficit to 3-1, but FJSC remained comfortable and the outcome of the match still appeared firmly in their hands.

Unfortunately, events away from the football began to overshadow what had been an excellent contest and the match with FJSC leading 3-1 with two goals from Charlie Richardson and one from Max Donbavandwas abandoned with ten minutes remaining. While it was disappointing that the game could not reach its natural conclusion, FJSC can be immensely proud of the conduct of theteam.

FJSC Under 13 Whites Saturday teamproduced another outstanding attacking display to defeat Netherton Athletic 8-2 at Buckley Hill, despite driving rain and strong winds making conditions extremely difficult. Callum Mannix opened the scoring in the first minute before Huey Stevenson doubled the lead two minutes later.

Netherton pulled one back from a ninth-minute penalty, but Stevenson struck again, followed by goals from Zac Cooper, FinnbarCoss and Callum Mannix again to give Formby a commanding 6-1 half-time advantage.

Netherton scored again shortly after the restart as goalkeeper Lucas Guest was forced off injured. Josh Halpin stepped up to take his place in goal and handled the difficult conditions admirably, supported by a determined team effort.  FJSC continued to attack and Zac Cooper added his second in the 51st minute before Zac McHugh completed the scoring in the 67th. The Whites showed excellent teamwork, determination and quality throughout a testing morning. Huey

Stevenson was deservedly named Man of the Match after two early goals and an energetic, committed performance.

FJSC Under 13 Whites lost 4-1 for the first time on Sunday in the West Lancs League against a very well organised Northfield Blacks.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks Saturday team maintained their excellent one hundred per cent winning start to the season with a 5 nil victory over Titans.

FJSC Under 13 Greens gained their first point of the season in the Craven Minor League with a very encouraging 1-1 draw with 11 Soccer Coaching.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks won 4-2 against Southport FC Community Gold to move into second position in the Championship Division.  Their next fixture is against league leaders Southport and Ainsdale Amateurs.

FJSC Under 12 Black played away at Southport Athletic Reds.  Southport took the lead with an early breakaway goal but then rarely threatened.  Formby carved out numerous opportunities but it took to until just before half time to level when Olly Stinson curled a corner for Noah Underwood to powerfully head into the top corner.

In the second half FJSC continued to pile on the pressure but the Southport goalkeeper made a bagful of great saves!  Formby’s perseverance eventualy paid off with Josh Robinson scoring from the edge of the box with a fine half volley.   Noah Underwood and Josh Robertson added to their respective goal tallies, before Isaac Melton slammed home a screaming half volley from outside the area. Ethan Catleugh followed up to score FJSC’s sixth goal after a fine shot from Ash Jones had been saved. It was a great all round performance, and but for some great opposition goalkeeping it could have been more.

Man of the Match was Noah Underwood who dominated midfield with positional awareness, tackling, and calm passing, as well as his two goals.

FJSC Under 10 Black played host to Crosby Stuart on a fine sunny day.

The Blacks started well with plenty of pressure on Crosby’s defence and went ahead when a well taken corner from Charlie Barnes found the back of the net. FJSC continued to stay on the attack and a goal each from Ted Middleton and Teddy Ball extended the Blacks lead by half time.

Into the second half James Taylor back from injury also found the back of the net, along with more goals for Ted, Teddy and Charlie.

Goalkeeper Harley Rea kept an impressive clean sheet and Seb Graham held the midfieldtogether. With both defenders off due to injury and illness FJSC relied on the good partnership between William Kenny and Isaac Murphy who both worked tirelessly in defence to halt a last-minute press from Crosby Stuart

On a sunny Autumnal day in Crosby FJSC Under 10 Reds continued their league campaign against Marina Sands. The first half started well for the Reds who began brightly. Good defensive displays from Kristian Tyacke, Lucas Kelly and Ed Makinsonprevented any close range efforts from the Marina side. Any efforts that got past these three were dealt with expertly by Reece Morley who was imperious throughout the whole game.  Marina dominated possession during the first half but FJSC threatened on 3-4 occasions on the break and made the Marina goalkeeper make some impressive saves.  At half time the game was goalless.

During the second half the possession swung a little more in Formby’s favour and Toby Parker, Ray Burnett and Finlay Constable caused Marina lots of problems on the transition. The deadlock was finally brokenwhen a lovely move between Toby Parker and Finn Constable resulted in a sweetly taken left footed strike from Finley Constable.  After the goal Marina continued to press and were thwarted by Reece Morley who was a colossus for the Reds in goal.

The pressure told though and Marina scored a last minute goal which on the balance of play they deserved. The coaches were very proud of all the boys in a game against very strong opponents. Man of the Match was Reece Morley.

FJSC Under 10 Gold showed a good spirit in the match with Churchtown Jaguars and managed to score four times in a high scoring encounter.  Ronnie Dempsey scored a hat trick and Arthur Higgins was also on target with a goal.  The Gold team without any substitutes tired towards the end of the match.  Again there are signs of progression for this new team.

FJSC Under 10 Whites played a very good Crosby Stuart team.  First half mistakes proved to be costly.  The Whites were lifted with an excellent display in goal from Rex Friday and a spectacular goal scored by Harry Brown.  It was a much better second half performance.  The team’s passing was much better and a number of goal scoring chances were created and on another day some of these near misses may well have resulted in goals.

FJSC Under 9 Whites played very well in difficult conditions against FCFC Falcons on Saturday.

FJSC Under 8 Whites made a slow startagainst Marina Sands and went two goalsbehind. There were chances from Kayden Dowdell and Albie Yorke but the Marina Sands goalkeeper, who was excellent throughout, kept Formby contained. Just before half time FJSC Whites scored with a well taken goal from Shayan Palin. McEddy Osei Assibey showed his usual tenacity and poked in a finish from close rangefor the equaliser .

In a second half goalkeeeper Toby Woodcockmade a couple of great saves and a brave block by Williams Laugly kept Marina Sands at bay. FJSC took the lead with another goal from Shayan Palin who showed skill and composure in front of goal. FJSC Whites were a little unlucky to concede at the end but the result was fair to both teams. Showing great energy throughout Albie Yorke was adeserving Man of the Match with his commitment, showing an example of what is expected from this team.

FJSC Under 8 Gold started the game stronglyaway at Southport Athletic and took an early lead after some excellent attacking play. Despite being on top for large parts of the opening spell, the opposition scored against the run of play and the Gold team started toswitch off at key moments, allowing their opponents to take control of the score line.

Damon McKay was outstanding throughout and seemed to be everywhere, winning tackles, driving forward with the ball and scoring two well-taken goals. Will Osbornewas also brilliant, showing real composure on the ball and helping the team play with confidence. Noah Kamel added a late consolation with a good finish, and the team can take plenty of positives from the way they kept going until the end.

FJSC Under 8 Green had a close match with Hesketh Bank Panther.  The Panthers took the lead in the first half but a fantastic strike from Adam Jadid-Leech levelled the score before half time.  The Greens began to pass the ball well and made a number of fast counter attacks in the second half.  FJSC were unlucky not to add more goals coming very close and hitting the post.
