The three newest Representative teams continue to produce fantastic results. Franks report here…

Formby Junior Sports Club has three great pieces of news to report.  The three newest Representative teams continue to produce fantastic results.  The Inter Club Taster sessions are proving a great success and there will be four new FJSC Representative Teams next season.

Formby Junior Sports Club started the season with three new teams.  The improvement these groups of boys have made has been remarkable.  Since January FJSC Under 11 Whites have won nearly all their matchesincluding wins against teams that they had previously lost to.  FJSC Under 8 Blacks have gained many successes throughout the entire league programme and even gained a draw at the weekend against one of the strongest teams at the age group our own FJSC Whites.  Finally the FJSC Under 7 Whites produced another impressive performance and now are unbeaten in their last eight matches.   In addition to this FJSC Under 10 Whites are also on an amazing undefeated league run in the South Division.

On the Inter Club front many new children arrived at Deansgate Lane last Saturday morning to take part in the free taster sessions which included fun coaching and a friendly match to follow.  After Easter there will be more Taster sessions which will be open to all children from four year olds to twelve year olds.

With everything going so well FJSC is delighted to be able to announce that just like this season there will be news teams for next season. There will be a brand new FJSC Under 6 team, a new FJSC Under 7’s, another team at Under 8 to be named FJSC Under 8 Blacks and another Under 9 team with the titleFJSC Under 9 Reds.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM REPORTS

FJSC Under 11 Whites produced the best performance of the season against a goodCrosby Stuart team who had won the previous encounter 7 nil earlier in the year. Moments of determination and excellent play at both ends saw the Under 11’s take their chances and keep a strong opposition to only one goal. In truth the four goal difference in the score linein favour of FJSC was a little flattering but the winning result was fully deserved due to a brilliant all-round team performance.

Every member of the team deserves a special mention as follows. Goalkeeper Harry Ballwas captain and lead by example with catches, some fantastic saves and really owning his goal area. Dylan Hyslop was his usual determined self, grabbed an assist and had a great second half cameo in midfield. SylvanO’Hara dominated at the back with clearances and headers and scored a bullet header from a corner. George Rowan was a rock at the back and stepped up into the Crosby Stuart half when it was needed. Noah Bate made some vital blocks in front of the back three and got involved further forward in the second half. Nik Kostakis did a great job marking one of Crosby Stuart’s main danger players out of the match. Ralph  Renton showed great composure on the ball and scored two lovely goals as well as making vital clearances from the FJSC box. Luke Greenbank never stopped running and was always a threat going forward and made the opposition work hard. Lucas Lewis had a great finish for the second goal as well as two assists from corners and a goal-line clearance. Joby Varey showed how versatile he is with his different roles all over the pitch and made some nice touches in setting up attacks. Ben Harris worked hard as always and was a constant threat on the ball, grabbing an assist for the opening goal andlater scoring with a beautifully placed header.

The management team and all the parents are super proud of the effort made by all the boys, their attitude and progress.  See the photograph above of a very happy FJSC Under 11 Whites team and their two coaches.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks hosted Hesketh Colts at Deansgate Lane in a tightly fought contest. Hesketh caught FJSC cold and scored early on to take the lead, but the Blacks responded well, and Ethan Richmond created an immediate opportunity for Henry Renton who was unlucky to see his effort ruled out for offside. The first half saw FJSC with plenty of possession but no clear chances as HeskethColts defended well.

FJSC started the second half strongly and created several chances, the first as Aaron Pickard broke through the lines only to be denied by a last-ditch tackle, and then Henry Renton headed onto the crossbar from an Ethan Richmond corner. Against the run of play, Hesketh scored a second goal as the ball broke free from a throw in.       FJSC halved the deficit as Sam Uttley intercepted a ball at the back, and played an excellent cross field pass to Ollie Dean who broke forward on the right wing and finished well to make it 2-1. FJSC piled on the pressure looking for an equaliser, with half chances falling to Josh Kearney and Henry Renton, while Riley Higgs was at hand at the other end making some fine saves to keep FJSC in the game, but neither team scored again as it ended 2-1. Man of the match was awarded to Riley Higgs who had an excellent game and gave a strong and commanding performance in goal.

FJSC Under 10 Whites made a successful trip to Ferryside Lane to play Southport Athleticas the boys continued their fine league form putting the disappointment of last week’s cup final behind them. The boys battled hard on a sticky pitch. Two first half goals from Jacob Davies saw FJSC take control of the match. Strong defensive work from Reece Bagley and Rowan Jones kept Southport Athletic at bay. FJSC went further ahead in the second half with goals from Gregory Houghton, Zac Hooson-Jones, Archie Weir and two furthergoals from man of the match Jacob Davies. With just two more games to go can the boys finish the second half of the season undefeated in the league?

FJSC Under 8 Whites were in action against FJSC Blacks.  It was a very  entertaining and thrilling match. Even though the teams know each other very well the boys were very competitive throughout. In a game that could have gone either way FJSC Whites had the majority of the play but were thwarted by some heroic goalkeeping from Finley Cregeenwho pulled off a string of saves that any professional goalkeeper would have been proud of.    It was a very unusual scoreline for Junior football.  The score was 0-0 but a match which was exciting from start to finish.  All the boys from both teams were outstanding and a great credit to Formby Junior Sports Club.

FJSC Under  7’s were at home against Burscough Yellows and were looking to continue their unbeaten run of seven games.   Harry Hughes opened the scoring within the first few minutes to set FJSC off to a great start.  The confidence of the team was starting to show once more as Charlie Ormesher netted the second of the game followed by Jack Brown who got the third.   The boys were once again pressing high up the pitch and this great work as a team led to more goals whichgave the Whites  a comfortable lead.  The passing amongst the team was excellent. The defending by Joshua Gillespie and Otto Johnson was very good which led to further goals from a hard working Oliver Parrish and a great finish from Austin Faraday.   The Under 7’s have been putting a lot of work in training on their set pieces and they were successful once again with more goals from corners.   It was a great team performance.
