Social media.

All types of media platforms can be dangerous, but also a great way to escape what’s going on in the world. You just have to know the red flags when you see them and know what to do if and when

you encounter them.

Pros:

The pros of social media can vary from making friends to learning new things. It’s great to

have time on social media, with the right precautions. Online friendships and relationships

are quite a big thing in this generation, especially with Covid, when getting out and about can be

difficult.

Cons:

Social media can also be a dangerous place with hackers, scams, links and people trying to get

things from you. There are lots of red flags you can notice if you’re finding yourself in a situation

like this. You may notice that you’re being asked lots of questions about who you are, age and name. Just

in-depth questions that you usually wouldn’t be asked. If you are being made to feel uncomfortable, talk to an adult you trust or visit trusted websites like childnet.com for advice.

Top tips;

1 - Keep your privacy settings on.

2 - Be careful what you download.

3 - Don’t share personal information.

4 - Use strong passwords.

The internet is a dangerous place. But if you know what to look out for, you can take what you can

from the internet and social media.
