Lifeguards are now back on duty for the Easter holidays, with daily patrols running from 10am to 6pm at Formby, Southport, Ainsdale and Crosby from Saturday 28th March through to Sunday 12th April.
If you are planning a swim, it is strongly advised to visit a lifeguarded beach such as Formby or Ainsdale and always stay between the red and yellow flags.
Visitors heading to the coast are also being reminded to take extra care:
The sea remains very cold, so bring warm clothing for afterwards
Always carry a mobile phone in case of emergency
Check tide times and weather conditions before setting off
If you get into difficulty in the water, remember to float to live
If you spot someone in trouble, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard
With many people expected to visit the coast over the holidays, everyone is encouraged to stay safe, enjoy the beach, and look out for one another.
