It was a very good weekend with nine victories for Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams

It was a very good weekend with nine victories for Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams despite the very windy conditions, muddy pitches and some teams having to play without substitutes due to holidays.  The standout highlights included a fantastic result for FJSC Under 11 Blacks, a very exciting win for the FJSC Under 9 Whites Sunday team to maintain their one hundred per cent record and a fourth win in succession for FJSC Under 9 Reds.

FJSC REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES

FJSC Black U11 went into the second game of the Spring Premier league with confidence after a good performance in their 1-1 draw with Bootle FC. It was always going to be tough game against a Silcox Villa team who hadn’t lost yet this season after they hadstrolled to the Winter Premier League title.

FJSC started the game well with Oscar Phillips, Alex Barr and Louis O’Connor marshalling the defence to restrict SilcoxVilla’s attacks. Within the first couple of minutes after some great wing play down the right from Caden Walker, Caden played an inch perfect cross into the back post area which Luke Millington ran onto and just missed giving FJSC an early lead.

With Ben Webster and Ellis Coyne battling in the centre of midfield, FJSC started to gain control of the game. Ten minutes in and after a great ball from Louis O’Connor from the back, Caden Walker set off again down the right wing and dribbled past two Silcoxplayers before cutting into the area and curling a perfect shot with his left foot into the keeper’s top right corner to give FJSC adeserved lead for the way they had started the game.

What followed was a ten minute barrage of Silcox Villa pressure with Alfie Forsyth dropping deeper from left midfield to help the back line. Goalkeeper Oscar Phillips was in fine form and made some incredible saves.  FJSC came back into the game for the last tenminutes of the first half with endless running up front from Charlie Richardson to keep the pressure on and FJSC held on to their lead until half time.

As the second half kicked off the message was don’t let the good effort of the first half go to waste. Unfortunately, within four minutes of the restart Silcox had a long range shot which looped over everyone and nestled in the opposite top corner of the FJSC net for the equaliser.   Two minutes later Silcox took the lead after poor marking in the area. Within sixminutes of the restart FJSC where suddenly 2-1 down.

FJSC regained their composure with Ellis Coyne and Ben Webster starting to control the play again which resulted in a great break from Alfie Forsyth down the left wing and winning a free kick. Louis O’Connor stepped up and played a great cross from the free kick into the area which Caden Walker timed his run to perfection and tapped in at the back post to make it 2-2. Suddenly FJSC were playing with confidence again.

It was a real battle in midfield with Ellis Coyne and Ben Webster really stepping up to win the battles which resulted in Charlie Richardson collecting the ball and playing through to Luke Millington who ran down the left and hit a great shot from outside the area which flew into the opposite top corner to giveFJSC the lead once again. Every player ran to celebrate with Luke because it was a goal his performances of late had deserved and he could not have picked a better time and game to score in. Silcox Villa then kicked back into life and not for some great saves from Oscar Phillips in goal it would have been 3-3.

Finally with full time approaching, Charlie Richardson again picked out Luke Millington who took on the defender and with a shimmy to his left, went past and then buried his shot to make it 4-2. It was a great team performance from FJSC and one that all theboys should all be proud of .  Joint Players of the Match were Oscar Phillips and Luke Millington.

FJSC Under 14’s played Aintree Villa on a very bad pitch which was waterlogged in places.   FJSC quickly adapted to the conditions and took the lead within five minutes when Archie Ogden scored.  The score line remained the same until early in the second half when James Cook doubled FJSC’s lead after a very good assist from Archie Ogden.  It soon became 3 nil when Archie Ogden kept his composure to score from the penalty spot.   A great pass from Berat Ulusoyprovided Archie Ogden the chance to complete a fine hat trick which he took.  To round off a very impressive team display Luca Massey beat the Aintree offside trap to finish in style for a 5 nil FJSC win.  Man of the Match was Archie Ogden.

FJSC Under 10 Blacks took on Formby Wanderers and played very well particularly as they had no substitutes.  The Blacks scored three goals.  Albie Graham scored the first with a long shot following an assist from Finn McDerby.    Henry Moors made some fine first half saves and Finn McDerby came close to scoring.

The Blacks worked extremely hard to maintain their lead after half time with Oliver Hall-Gleeson, Albie Graham and Joseph Kenyon controlling midfield.   Jacob Holtontackled well and made a nuisance of himself up front and was unlucky not to score several times.   Oliver Hall -Gleeson scored the all-important second goal with a cheeky back heeled goal.Harley Evans was a machine throughout winning the balls with Finn McDerby at the back and powering through midfield to get the ball through to the forward players. Eventually The Blacks added a third goal when Harley Evans was rewarded with a goal late on.  FJSC Blacks had played well and kept a clean sheet.  Also congratulations to the Formby Wanderers goalkeeper who made a string of excellent saves to keep his team in the match.FJSC Under 10 Reds were at home to Southport and Ainsdale Blues.  The Reds started to settle into the match after early pressure from S. and A. and went into a two goal lead before half time with goals from Joel Wright and Tom Murphy.   S. and A. pegged a goal back after the break but two goals from Chase Lowen increased the Reds lead.  A late second goal from Joel Wright completed a very good team

performance.

Brett McKeown was very commanding in goal and there were also good performances from James Hannan and Mason Todd in defence and from midfielder Campbell Woodcock. Man of Match for a tireless display and two goals went to striker Chase Lowen.

FJSC Under 9 White came out on top in a thrilling encounter against excellent Southport and Ainsdale Reds who will be their opponents in the Jim Rourke Trophy Cup Final in a few weeks time. S. and A. Reds took a fully deserved lead and should have added more goals but were thwarted by FJSCgoalkeeper Finn Cregeen who kept the Whites in the game.

The second half started in similar fashion with S. and A. Reds looking to add to their lead but once FJSC Whites started to play their own game they were soon on level terms with SebHodgson’s excellent curling finish. The game was end to end and S. and A. once again took the lead with a slick pass and move. FJSCdusted themselves off and were quickly back on level terms after a penalty for handball allowed Seb Hodgson to grab his second goal with a coolly taken spot kick. Only a few moments later Seb completed his hat-trick bypoaching at the back post from Henry Williamson’s clever volley that the keeper couldn’t handle. In the closing moments Henry Williamson struck home the decisive fourth goal with a wonderful strike from twenty yards out that flew into the top corner.  It was a very close match but the Whites managed to keep their one hundred per cent record for the season.   The much-awaited cup final will be a cracker.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks played away at Southport FC Whites.  Despite missing some squad members due to holidays the available team played very well in very windy conditions and on a very muddy pitch.  Ethan Catleugh, Joseph Kerrigan, Jack Hansen and Idris Jones all scored one goal each in a good win.  Goalkeeper Max Byford made  some important saves.  Man of the match for a very consistent display throughout went to Ashley Jones.

FJSC Under 9 Reds hosted Crosby Stuart andafter an even start Isaac Ignatowicz played a great pass out of defence into the path of Josh Robinson who hit a great strike into the Crosby Stuart net.  A minute later Josh Robinson scored again after receiving a very good through ball from Seb Houghton.  Crosby Start came back strongly but FJSC’s goalkeeper Luke Madutlela made a string of amazing saves.  The Reds extended the lead when Seb Houghton scored with a tremendous shot from twenty yards.  Crosby Stuart fought back and scored a goal before half time.

The exciting match saw both teams attacking and the two goalkeepers making some very good saves.  Eventually Crosby Stuart reduced the deficit to one after scoring their second goal of the match from a penalty.  FJSC defended resiliently to hold onto their slender lead until the final whistle and record their fourth win in the last four matches.  It was a very good team performance as this new FJSC team playing in only their first season gets better with every outing.  Man of the Match for his excellent defending and passing was Isaac Ignatowicz.

FJSC Under 8 Whites were also in action against Crosby Stuart.  The Whites pressed from the start and had a few chances which they could not convert.  The match ebbed and flowed with goalkeeper Charles Fazakerley making some good saves in the first half and Harry Hughes the nearest to scoring.

Crosby Stuart opened up a lead after the interval.  FJSC’s spirits were lifted after Oliver Parrish sped down the right wing before scoring from a tight angle.  Joshua Gillespie was a rock in defence and came close to scoring as did Austin Faraday who played up and down the wing.  The Man of the Match award went to Harry Hughes who ran from start to finish.  The boys tried very hard from start to finish with no substiutes.

FJSC Under 7 Whites were in action against a very well organised and strong S. and A. Blueteam.   Luke Clarke scored a brilliant individual goal dribbling out from defence before his long range effort found the bottom corner.   It was FJSC’s only goal of the match.  Henry Ade made a number of great saves in the second half.  Logan Haggart tracked back and helped the defence. Lucas Byrne made some timely tackles in the second half after making some first half saves in goal.  Archie Jones, Franklin Chignell, and Ben Donnelly all worked tirelessly for the team.  Despite all the efforts of the FJSC boys  S. and A. managed to score four times.  It was a very good effort by all the boys.

FJSC Under 6 Blacks played Akidemy Green. The game was 1 nil for FJSC for a long time and it was a very close match. Ollie Jones then scored a great goal from distance after some brilliant pressure and from then onwards the Blacks dominated for long spells of the game.

Cole Jones played really well in the first third and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. There were also some really good saves from Max Healey and Tayo Popoola in goal at different times of the match to keep the Blacks ahead. Ollie Jones and Thomas Mitchell were the driving force with both showing greatdetermination.  Teddy Marron also played well which helped the team to win their fourteenth match of the season.  Man of the Match was Thomas Mitchell.  The Referee’s Player of the Match was Ollie Jones  and also special mention to Max Healey who had a great match in goal and when playing in defence.
