It was another outstanding day for Formby Swimming Club as their talented squad delivered an incredible performance at the Winsford Spring Meet on 11 April 2026, bringing home an impressive 36 medals between just seven swimmers.
The event marked a brilliant step forward for the club’s newly forming gala team, with 15 gold and seven silver medals among the haul. Despite Robyn having to withdraw due to illness, the team rallied together and produced a fantastic set of results.
A special mention goes to three swimmers celebrating their first open gala medals. Lauren, competing on her debut, secured a sixth place medal in the 100 breaststroke. Ewan, in only his third meet, claimed two silver medals in the 50 breaststroke and 100 individual medley, alongside strong finishes in the 50 backstroke and butterfly. Seb, competing in just his second open meet, showed great determination in the demanding 200 individual medley to win silver, before adding a bronze in the 50 butterfly and further top six finishes across multiple events.
The club’s more experienced swimmers also delivered exceptional performances, collecting 26 medals between four of them. Jess achieved a perfect eight medals from eight races, including six golds. Will followed closely with seven medals from seven races, also securing six golds. Jasmine earned five medals from seven races, while Ciara claimed six medals, including three golds, from six events.
While the medal count is remarkable, the club highlighted that the real success lies in the number of personal bests achieved and the valuable experience gained by all swimmers.
With determination, teamwork and continued progress, Formby Swimming Club continues to go from strength to strength, living by the motto inspired by Adam Peaty — better than yesterday.
Well done everyone!
