The incident happened at around 4.40pm on Saturday 18 April on Duke Street, where a 15-year-old boy was approached and threatened by a group of males. During the robbery, his sunglasses, mobile phone, cash, watch and bank card were taken.
Officers were already in the area at the time, and thanks to the swift actions of Police Community Support Officers and the local neighbourhood team, the suspects were quickly identified nearby and detained shortly after the incident.
Three boys, aged 15, 14 and 15, all from Formby, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery. They have since been conditionally bailed while enquiries continue.
Police say they understand the concern incidents like this can cause within the community and have reassured residents that reports of this nature are treated extremely seriously. Although arrests have been made, enquiries remain ongoing.
