A group of Formby runners were out in force this weekend, taking part in a community baton challenge to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer.
The event, organised by Beth Costello in partnership with We Move Collective and We Run Club, saw teams work together to complete a marathon by carrying a single baton between runners, with each participant completing a section of the route before passing it on to the next runner.
Among those taking part were the L37 Boys, who completed their section of the relay in an impressive under 20 minutes. The morning proved to be a memorable one, with several members of the group also achieving new 5K personal bests along the way.
The event was supported by Kiosk Coffee, bringing together local runners of all abilities for a morning focused on fitness, community spirit and fundraising for an important cause.
A post shared after the event praised everyone involved, saying: “Great morning for a great cause. L37 Boys all doing their jobs in getting that baton back in just under 20 minutes, with a few of the lads getting a 5K PB in the process. Well done to everyone involved and a special shout out to Beth Costello for organising such a good event to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer.”
Congratulations to everyone who took part and helped support such a worthwhile charity, while proving once again the strength of Formby’s running community.
