Formby Junior Sports Club’s Inter Club Section had its best attendance of the season last Saturday morning.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM REPORTS

FJSC Under 15 Black came from behind three times to earn a well-deserved 3-3 draw away against Skelmersdale on Sunday in the West Lancashire Junior League.  FJSC missed a couple of early opportunities as both Tom Donnelly and Ethan Murphy came close to scoring.  Skelmersdale took advantage and scored following a goalmouth scramble, only for FJSC to equalise straight away.  Ollie Dean broke from midfield and ran onto a clever pass from Tom Donnelly before he finished with a drive into the far corner.  Skelmersdale scored a second just before half time with a speculative shot to lead 2-1.

In the second half Ben Cargill scored from a corner with a towering header before Skelmersdale added a third after a mix up in defence.  FJSC pushed hard for an equaliser which came when Ben Cargill played a ball forward.  Yaroslav Vovnianko beat the offside trap and raced onto the pass before firing the ball passed the advancing keeper.  The game finished 3-3.  Player of the Match was Henry Todd. See team photograph above.

FJSC Under 14 Blacks Sunday team played very well against a determined Maghull team. The Blacks went into the break 2-1 up and really opened up in the second half. Some of the triangles the boys played were fantastic to watch just going to show that the practices in midweek training are paying off.  There wereseveral players covering positions, not least Jen Heron and Zak Healey plus

Lucas Lewis who helped out in goal. There were too many good performances to mention everyone individually. Seb Burdett-Clarke had a truly outstanding second half, making clever runs, working hard and scoring a well-takenhat-trick. Seb shared the Man of the Match Award with the excellent Reuben Burke who held the ball up and brought others into play countless times, all capped off with a fine goal of his own.

FJSC Under 14 Blacks Sunday team wereoutplayed by a very strong FPA team and suffered a heavy defeat despite a very valiant effort.  Man of the Match for the second timeover the weekend was Seb Burdett-Clarke.

FJSC Under 14 Whites found themselves 3 nil down at half time to

Southport FC Community Yellow.    In the second half the Whites showed heart and grit and tried to get back into the game butconceded again and eventually lost 4-0.  Man of the Match was Eoin Dwyer who was solid as a make shift left back.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks played Winter Premier League winners TQ Santos in a Cup Group stage match. TQ started well and soon took a 1-0 lead. As FJSC tried to get back into the game TQ struck again to make it 2-0. However FJSC fought back into the game with a well taken free kick from Josh Burr to make it 2-1 before half time.

FJSC started on the front foot in the second half and a well taken goal from Josh Burr saw FJSC equalise. The game stayed 2-2 for sometime, as both teams looked for the next goal and it was an unfortunate bobble from a long range shot which saw TQ regain the lead. As FJSC pushed for an equaliser TQ took fulladvantage as gaps appeared in the FJSC defence and scored two quickfire goals to win 5-2.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks started well against Southport and Ainsdale with some really neat patterns of play which saw a cross converted well by Louis O’Connor to make it 1-0 early on. FJSC continued to push as good play down both wings produced another goal this time for Isaac Jones. FJSC continued to apply pressure and from a series of corners Ellis Coyne converted a header to make it 3 nil. Another goal by Isaac Jones and then one by Charlie Richardson gave the Blacks a 5-1 lead after S & A opened their account scoring on a counter attack.  FJSC continued to play well in the second half to win 5-2.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks Saturday team won 4-1 against FCFC Falcons.

Also on Saturday  FJSC Under 12 Whites defeated Redgate Black 6-1.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks won again on Sunday  with a 2 nil victory over Holy Rosary.

FJSC welcomed Dynamo Burscough Green to Deansgate for a midday kick-off played in warm, dry conditions that were perfect for football.

The opening fifteen minutes saw both sides locked in a competitive battle, probing for weaknesses while testing each other’s goalkeepers. Both keepers stood firm with a series of solid saves, ensuring the gameremained finely poised at 0–0.

The breakthrough finally came when Olly Stinson in midfield delivered a perfectly weighted through ball for Jack Hansen to open the scoring for the Juniors. From that moment on, FJSC found their rhythm and the goals began to flow. Ashley Jones produced a superb performance in front of goal, helping himself to an outstanding five goals. Alex Rowley also got on the scoresheet to round off an impressive attacking display.  Assists for the goals came from Olly Stinson, Jack Hansen, Ethan Catleugh and Alex Rowley.

The Man of the Match award deservedly went to Ashley Jones, whose pace, movement, and finishing caused constant problems for the opposition back line.

FJSC Under 10 Whites played away at Burscough Dynamo Yellow. Burscough scored a very early goal. Joseph Elsey scored an equaliser  and then Austin Faraday stepped up to take a free kick from the half way line and scored with a spectacular shot. Eric Williams added a third goal before half time to give the Whites a two goal lead.   Unfortunately the second half didn’t quite go as well as Burscough came back with three goals to give themselves a slender lead which was held to the end of an exciting match.  All the boys played extremely well and never gave up throughout.

FJSC Under 10 Blacks endured a difficult morning away to Southport Trinity Whiteknowing they were up against strong opposition.  FJSC expected a tough test, but will be disappointed with how several of the goals were conceded. It was a frustrating display for the visitors, who seemed to drift away from the basics they had been working hard on in recent weeks, including holding positions, tracking runners and playing together as a team.  Trinity took full advantage and raced into a substantial lead by half time.

To their credit, FJSC kept going in the second half and created a few chances that were well saved by the Trinity goalkeeper.  Daniel MacArthur did managed to grab a consolation goal for the Blacks.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks were away to Burscough Dynamo. It was an evenly matched game with plenty of chances. Eventually Ted Middleton ended the deadlock giving the Blacks the lead before half time. The Blackswere determined to capitalise on their one goal advantage in the second half and again Ted Middleton found the back of the net to double the lead.

Parents Man of the Match was Oscar Craven for an outstanding defensive display and theCoaches Man of the Match was goalkeeperHarley Rea for keeping a clean sheet.

FJSC Under 9 Reds continued their league fixtures against Southport Athletic Blacks on Sunday. The Reds started the game well and created a number of chances in the opening exchanges. The deadlock was eventually broken when Isaac Kamel skipped past a couple of defenders with ease to slot home in the far corner of the net. The first half continued in the same vein with the Reds dominating but failing to convert their superiority into goals. They suffered a sucker punch towards the end of the first half when a Southport corner was converted from close range.

The second was an even contest with both teams creating and squandering chances early on in the half. The Reds were dealt a blow midway through the half when a close range shot from Athletic sneaked in at the front post after a ricochet in the box.  Despite this setback the Reds continued to create chances. The best chance fell to Ed Makinson whose twenty-five yard free kick hit the bar with the keeper beaten.  As they pushed forward in the latter stages the Reds conceded again but can be proud of another good performance against a team who will contest the cup final next weekend.

Throughout the game Lucas Kelly again demonstrated his excellent defensive qualities despite carrying a training ground injury and was

Man of the Match.

FJSC Under 8 Whites produced another outstanding performance against Southport Athletic in a match that showcased teamwork, and plenty of goals.  From the first whistleFJSC took control racing into the lead thanks to sharp passing, relentless pressing, and some ruthless finishing. Cian O’Farrell bagged a hat trick. Tom Babun added the team’s other goal.  Southport Athletic did grab one goal back.

The biggest highlight was the accurate passing, quick combinations, calm decision-making, and intelligent movement.   Every single player contributed to a superb display from start to finish. The improvement in passing, movement, and teamwork over the past couple of weeks has been outstanding and full of energy.

FJSC Under 7 Whites had a number of players unavailable for the match against Marina Sands.  The Whites started well and nearly took the lead when a McEddy Osei Assibeyshot hit the post. Formby kept up the pressure with great strength and determination from Albie York who worked hard with and without the ball the whole game.  McEddy Osei Assibey after another breakaway scored with a shot into the top corner of the net.   This was swiftly followed by another, slotting into the corner past the Marina Sands keeper. Marina Sands showed some good play dribbling into the FJSC box to pull one back before half time.

In the second half Teddy Gillingham battled hard and was nearly rewarded when his shot seemed to cross the line. William Laugleytook his opportunity playing out of defence and made some excellent runs and was unlucky not to score.  McEddy Osei Assibeybagged a hat trick goal to seal another commanding performance up front. Toby Woodcock made a number of powerful runs with the ball and neatly dribbled past twodefenders and drilled the finish into the corner, making the most out of his time out of goal. Late in the game Marina Sands scored a consolation goal.  Man of the Match wasAlbie York who showed great attitude and hard work for his team.
