The Environment Agency has issued a Flood Alert for the River Alt catchment area, which includes Formby, Hightown, Maghull, Sefton, Lunt, Kirkby, Fazakerley, and Aughton.
Flooding is forecast to affect low-lying land, roads, and areas close to the River Alt and its surrounding watercourses. While this is an alert (the lowest level of warning), residents are being urged to remain prepared and cautious.

Recent heavy rainfall has increased the risk of water levels rising, and further unsettled weather could add to the situation. The River Alt has historically been prone to flooding, so extra care is advised, particularly for those living or travelling near flood-prone locations.
⚠️ What you should do:
Stay alert and monitor local conditions.
Avoid walking, cycling, or driving through flood water.
Take extra care if using low-lying footpaths, roads, or bridges near rivers and streams.
Ensure drains, ditches, and gullies near your property are clear where possible.
