We’re saddened to report that the handrail on Wicks Lake bridge, along with a nearby bench, was damaged overnight earlier this week.
The bridge has long been a peaceful crossing point for both people and wildlife, and we want to reassure the community that we are working to repair the damage as soon as possible.
Plans were already in place to strengthen parts of the structure later this year, including replacing the bolts that hold it together. However, because of the presence of rare great crested newts in the area, repair work can only be carried out at specific times to ensure their habitat remains protected.

In the meantime, please take extra care when using the bridge and avoid leaning on the handrail.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to look after this very special place.
