The National Trust in Formby are carrying out tests to see if compostable toilets could work at Lifeboat Road car park. You might notice a unit on site, but it won’t be in use during this testing phase.
The existing toilets here aren’t up to their usual standards and because there are no service connections to the car park, installing permanent facilities would be extremely costly.
A spokesperson from National Trust said: “When we first began caring for the south of the site in 2017, there were no toilets, so introducing basic facilities has been a step in the right direction. Now, we’re exploring whether this eco-friendly option could work effectively in Formby’s wild and natural surroundings.”
“Thank you for your patience and support as we look for more sustainable ways to care for this special place.”
