Another highly entertaining and enjoyable weekend of junior football at the club

ree

Formby Junior Sports Clubs Under 14 Blacks win both their weekend matches and FJSC Under 15 Blacks draw in their top of the table clash in another highly entertaining and enjoyable weekend of junior football at the club.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 15’s played in a top of the table match against Clay Brow and earned a well-deserved 2-2 draw. FJSC scored first whenEthan Murphy pounced on a loose back pass, rounded the goalkeeper and passed to Ethan Richmond to tuck the ball away. Ethan Richmond then doubled their lead scoring straight from a corner before Clay Brow pulled a goal back just before half time to make it 2-1 at the break.

In the second half both teams created opportunities to score, and Riley Higgs made some excellent saves, but it was Clay Brow who broke free and scored a deflected goal to equalise in the final couple of minutes. The game ended 2-2. Player of the Match wasOllie Dean for his determination and tireless efforts in the centre of midfield.

It was a very good weekend for FJSC Under 14 Blacks with victories both on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday the boys played Crosby Stuart in what was a really tough and physical game at Buckley Hill.  FJSC equipped themselves well in a disciplined team performance. The poor  weather conditions made the first half really difficult and the Blacks deserve much credit to go into the break at 1-1 after going a goal down.

FJSC outplayed Crosby Stuart for large parts of the match and deservedly went 2-1 up. Crosby Stuart capitalised on a FJSC error andequalised. In an exciting finish Seb Burdett-Clarke popped up with the all-important winning goal.

The back four were immense against some very tall Crosby Stuart forwards.  NathanLynch and Will Madutlela deserve mention for good all round performances.  Man of the Match was Seb Burdett-Clarke.

FJSC Under 14 Blacks were in action against Southport Hesketh on Sunday.   The two teams had a number of players missing due to holidays and had to quickly adapt to new positions.  Southport Hesketh opened the scoring.  FJSC responded well with commanding displays from Jenson Heron and Sam Howell.  FJSC gradually got the measure of their opponents and identified weaknesses.  As soon as the Blacks took the lead  more FJSC goals followed and the team went on to win 10-3.   There were two goals each for Will Madutlela, Ben Harris, Fabian Reilly, SebBurdett- Clarke and Sam Howell.

FJSC Under 14 Whites lost 2 nil away at Southport FC Yellow on a bumpy pitch.  Some players were missing due to holidays so the boys available had to play out of position.  FJSC’s first half display was disappointingbut there was a big improvement in the second half.

Dylan Hyslop was Man of the Match with his determined tackling, dribbling and his drivesforward. Special mention also goes to Noah Dunham who captained the side and used his pace to force mistakes and createchances for the team.

FJSC Under 13 Whites travelled to Crosby to take on unbeaten league leaders Marina Sands who had started the season very well. In cold and wet conditions and with no substitutes Formby battled hard and kept Marina at arm’s length for twenty-five minutes. FJSC had a great chance to open the scoring after AlbieSalters shot wide from outside the area.  It took a penalty for Marina Sands to open the scoring. Marina added two more goals before half time and then pulled away in the second half. FJSC scored a well-deserved goal at the end after Albie Salters converted a penalty won by Nik Kostakis. It was a good effort from the boys against a strong team. Man of the Match was Noah Lace who kept going right to the end.

FJSC Under 12 Reds played really wellagainst Southport Hesketh in terrible conditions and considering the lack of substitutes. A slow start didn't help the situation and the Reds soon went a couple of goals down. The Reds worked hard and got their reward with a goal scored by Frank Kulazinski.

After half time FJSC started to play well and put together some fantastic passing and broke through on goal several times but the goals wouldn't come. Southport with the wind at their backs fired a few long shots and the wet pitch caught out keeper Brett McKeown. James Hannan moved up front in an attempt to get back in the game and it paid off almost instantly when he rounded the keeper and slotted home. Despite a valiant effort the lack of substitutes and the biting cold proved too much in the end and the boys lost 2-4. Man of the Match was Haden Radcliffe who played well in several positions and was confident in carrying the ball forward.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks put in another strong team performance against Southport Athletic Black.  The teamwork and passing was excellent. Noah Underwood and Adam Tyler-Holland both bagged a brace, showing real composure in front of goal. Noah opened the scoring after meeting a  corner from Ethan Catleugh, before doubling his tally with a precise finish following a clever through ball from Olly Stinson. Adam Tyler-Holland continued the momentum, finishing calmly after a neat assist from Jack Hansen and adding his second with a skilful dribble following another assist from Olly Stinson.

It was a confident and disciplined display all round, with every player contributing to a solid team effort. FJSC can be proud of their performance and continue their 100% record this season. Man of the Match went to Asher Fields playing in an unaccustomed position in defence and producing a very impressiveperformance.

FJSC  Under 10 Whites were another team short of players due to half term. The boys played well against Redgate Blacks.  Goalkeeper  Teddy Mills made some good saves and is gaining confidence.   Keeping positions is still something team members need to concentrate more on and this will come with more practice and match experience.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks played Southport TrinityBlues at home on a wet Sunday morning.  It was a fast moving end to end match with plenty of chances for both teams. Ted Middleton finally ended the deadlock and gave FJSC a first half lead scoring with a well-placed shot.

Southport Trinity equalised early after the break but not to be deterred FJSC’s Ted Middleton again found the back of the net giving the lead back to FJSC.   Trinity once again bounced back and drew level for the second time. The match continued at a frantic pace and in the closing stages Trinity took the lead for the first time.  The Blacks went on to the offensive again and with little time remaining FJSC were awarded a penalty after a foul on Isaac Murphy.  Isaac kept calm and confidently scored the spot kick with the last kick of this exhilarating match to see the scores level.  It was a nail biting six goal thriller and a great credit to the two teams.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks are showing just how far they have come during the last twelve months. Man of the Match was awarded to James Taylor for his ability to play in a new position and for the constant pressure he put on the Trinity defence.

FJSC Under 9 Reds made a bright start against a Southport Hesketh team they had lost heavily against in their first league match seven weeks ago. Oliver Horder opening the scoring after ten minutes with a smart right footed strike. There were impressive performances from Milo House and Alex Kirkby but they couldn’t prevent Southport coming back into the game and eventually going ahead. Two late goals conceded as Formby attacked meant that the score line flattered the visitors a little. Special mention for goalkeeper and Man of the Match Finley Constable who made a string of saves on his 9th birthday.

FJSC Under 8 Whites Sunday team made a terrible start in their match with Southport Trinity and found themselves very quickly trailing by four goals but rather than letting heads drop, they rallied brilliantly fighting back to 4–3 with some excellent team play and determination.

Unfortunately, a late goal sealed the win for the opposition, but the overall performance showed that the team are still moving in the right direction. The passing is definitely improving, and general gameplay is much more cohesive. All the players are now getting to grips with their starting positions, which is great to see. There’s still a bit of work to do when roles are switched mid-game, but the progress is clear.

The team is still prone to the occasional silly mistake, but the numbers are way down compared to last year. That’s a big win in itself.  Special shoutout to Cian O’Farrell who was absolutely outstanding scoring two brilliant goals. His first was a stunner and a moment of pure brilliance. He was our Man of the Match. Every single player contributed. The effort, attitude, and teamwork were top-notch. it’s great to see the massive improvements the Under 8 Whites have made since last year. Keep it up!

After two weeks off FJSC Under 7’s Whiteswere back in action at Southport Athletic Red.  The Whites started well and took the leadwhen Kayden Dowdall scored with a well struck free kick. Southport Athletic soon equalised but a couple of good saves from Toby Woodcock kept the scores level. Southport Athletic then took the lead but a superb individual goal from Shayan Palin brought the game level again. Throughout the game Teddy Gillingham made the most of his time on the pitch battling at every opportunity. William Laughly was brave in his defensive work and despite taking a ball to the face played on and provided a solid defence for the Whites at the back. Southport Athletic scored again and despite the best efforts of Thomas Daley FJSC could not find the equaliser in a match that could have gone either way.  See the team photograph above.
