An exciting finale to the Formby Junior Sports Club’s season is expected as team’s spring into action.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 13 Blacks Saturday team played Ormskirk in the Hightown Spring Premier League.  Isaac Jones scored after thirty seconds to give FJSC a very early lead. The Blacks doubled the lead when Isaac Jones scored again. Ormskirk pulled one goal back. A good shot by Charlie Richardson saw FJSC take a 3-1 lead into half time.

Charlie Richardson added to his tally to make it 4-1 after the break.

FJSC found it hard going as the second half wore on and Ormskirk got back into the game with two quickfire goals. With the final kick of the game Ormskirk managed to equalise for a 4-4 score line with the referee blowing for full time seconds later.  There were plenty of positives for the team to take away from the game.

On Sunday FJSC Under 13 Blacks were in action again on a 3G pitch at Chesterfield High School in very wet and windy conditions. Their opponents were Marina Sands Bilbao. The team focused all their attention on the important game to try and keep their challenge for the Premier Divisiontitle alive.  FJSC started the game well but it was Marina Sands who took a 1-0 lead with a well taken goal.

It didn’t stop FJSC playing good football and it didn’t take long before the Blacks equalised.   Both teams played the game in tricky conditions as the wind and rain made it very cold. FJSC soon went ahead and finally won 9-1.  Isaac Jones scored five,  Charlie Richardson scored a hat trick and Alfie Frost completed the scoring with one goal.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks, see squad photograph above and Bootle Youth are now joint leadersof the Craven Minor Under 13 Premier Division on 28 points with Redgate RoversGreen just one point behind on 27 points. Still contention is Crosby Stuart on 21 points. It should be a very exciting last few weeks of the season with many twists and turns on the way.

FJSC Under 14 Whites found themselves 3 nildown in the first ten minutes against FCFC Orange. The boys didn't give up and pulled one back with a fine finish from Noah Dunham after a great pass from Bobby Friar. Eventually FJSC lost 6-2 but played well inspells and showed plenty of determination.

FJSC Under 14 Blacks Saturday team drew 1-1 with Silcox Villa and stay top of the table in the Hightown JFL Cup competition.

FJSC Under 12 Whites Saturday team drew 2-2 with Aintree Athletic.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks narrowly won 2-1 against Forefield Whites also on Saturday.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks lost 3 nil to Sutton Junction on Sunday.

FJSC Under 11 Gold team finished on the losing side in their match with Southport FC Reds but there were still plenty of positives to take from the performance. The opposition proved clinical in front of goal, capitalising on their chances, but the score line didn’t fully reflect the effort and determination shown throughout the match. Defensively, the team worked extremely hard, staying organised for long periods and showing real resilience under pressure. There was a clear improvement in communication and teamwork at the back, which is a big step forward. Going forward, the team continued to create opportunities, and it was great to see Gabriel Doran get on the scoresheet with a well-earned goal. CharlieHerbert came close to adding another but was unlucky to miss a penalty, which on another day could easily have found the back of the net.

The attitude and commitment from all players were excellent, with everyone continuing to battle right until the final whistle. Matches like this are all part of the learning process, and there is a lot to build on as the team continues to develop.  With continued hard work in training, the squad will look to take these positives into the next fixture after the Easter break.

FJSC Under 10 Whites got off to a good startin the match with Redgate Rovers Green andtook the lead with a great goal from EricWilliams.  The Whites managed to hold the lead until half time but Redgate fought backand scored two quick goals early in the second half and then another two goals late in the match.  All the boys battled hard especially Austin Faraday who didn’t stop from start to finish.

FJSC Under 10 Blacks produced a determined display against Southport Trinity Yellow, eventually going down in a much closer contest than the score line might suggest. With the Easter holidays affecting availability, FJSC travelled without any substitutes, meaning every player had to battle through the full match without a rest. Despite that, the Formby boys started well and made Trinity work hard for everything. Two excellent finishes from the home side were the difference in a tight first half, but FJSC still went into the break firmly in the game.

Any hopes of a comeback took an early hit when Trinity added a third soon after half-time with another well-taken goal. FJSC kept going, but a penalty midway through the second half, calmly converted by Trinity, effectively ended the contest.

Although disappointed with the defeat, FJSC can take plenty of positives from the performance. Having lost by a much higher score to the same opposition only a few weeks ago, this was a much stronger and more competitive showing and certainly did not feel like a one-sided game.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks hosted Southport and Ainsdale Reds who started strongly and had the better of the early stages of the match. FJSC Blacks grew into the game and took the lead before half time with a goal which wasneatly slotted home by Ted Middleton.

Two second half goals from Ted Middleton secured his hat trick. The Blacks continued to grow in confidence and added to the goal tally when Charlie Barnes found his way throughand scored with a lovely shot. With a change of players James Taylor came on following a few weeks off and he too found the back of the net. Ted Middleton scored his fourth goal of the match late on.  It was a good all round team display with the Man of the Match award going to Teddy Ball for his four assists and to Zach Oliver-Watts for outstanding defensive play.

FJSC Under 8 Blacks gained an excellent win against Crosby Stuart with Ollie Jones being named Man of the Match after scoring five goals.  Harry Brown was also on the scoresheet with one goal.

FJSC Under 7 Whites were slow out of the blocks against 360 Coaching and concededearly in the game.  Formby started getting into the game and with his usual fast pace McEddy Osei Assibey broke through the 360 Coaching defence with a strike to the bottom corner. Some poor defending from a corner led to another goal for 360 coachingbut again FJSC replied quickly with a strike in the top corner. The Whites then took the lead for the first time with an excellent strike from Edison Foy who worked hard throughout the game.

FJSC had the best of the chances throughout the rest of the game but had trouble finding the back of the net.  Despite conceding a couple of further goals the boys played excellently as a team unit. A special mention has to be made for the Man of the Match William Laugley who had an excellent game in defence.
