A Magical Night in Formby Village – Christmas Lights Switch-On 2025

On Thursday 20th November 2025, Formby Village came alive with sparkle, song, and festive cheer as we celebrated our biggest Christmas Light Switch-On yet.

Thousands of residents and visitors filled Chapel Lane to enjoy the fairground rides, local stalls, and a packed evening of entertainment. This year’s event attracted our largest audience to date, with families gathering together to watch the village transform into a twinkling winter wonderland.

From 12 noon, Chapel Lane was closed to traffic, creating a safe and festive pedestrian-only zone. People were free to wander, shop locally, and soak up the atmosphere as the village prepared for the evening’s celebrations.

The fairground proved hugely popular, with families enjoying a selection of much-loved rides and attractions. Local traders lined the village with stalls, adding even more festive charm to the day.

The stage lit up throughout the afternoon and evening with brilliant performances from local schools, choirs, and community groups. Their music, dancing, and festive energy created a fantastic build-up to the main event.

By the time the countdown began, Formby Village was absolutely heaving. Hundreds of people packed into Chapel Lane, excitedly waiting for that magical moment.

The lights flickered on just three seconds early, but nobody minded — the crowd erupted with joy as Formby Village was illuminated in a stunning display of colour and Christmas sparkle.

This year’s Christmas tree has been widely praised as one of our most beautiful yet — a perfect shape, breathtaking lights, and proudly standing with the traditional nativity at its base, kindly provided by Our Lady’s.

The 2025 Formby Christmas Light Switch-On was a truly unforgettable evening — full of community spirit, festive joy, and that special Formby magic we all love.

Their hard work, planning, and dedication ensured the entire event ran smoothly and safely, creating a magical evening for our whole community. From arranging the road closures and stage entertainment to bringing the stunning Christmas tree and lights to life, their efforts made this year’s celebration one of the best we’ve ever had.
