Rainbow Hub Charity Art Challenge

Rainbow Hub has set up a new art challenge on Facebook to encourage people to help raise funds for the Mawdesley based charity supporting children and young people with physical and neurological disabilities.

Like many other organisations, they have had to cancel all their summer fund-raising events and have been looking at different ways to raise the funds they need to continue their services. They have adapted to virtual services created to help the youngsters continue the therapies that are so critical to their general development and well-being.

Their new challenge is for some fantastic supporters to take part in the #rainbowhubart campaign. All they need to do is design a rainbow, share a photo of it on social media with the hashtag #rainbowhubart and nominate up to 5 others to do the same. All rainbows sent to Rainbow Hub, will then be displayed in their Rainbow “gallery” Supporters can help by donating just £5 by texting RAINBOWHUBART to 70490 (texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message)

Kat Nelson, Fundraiser at Rainbow Hub, said “The needs of the children and young people we support don’t go away because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we have no statutory funding we have to find other ways to raise the funds needed to continue our work. We have received some beautiful designs already and we are so very grateful to everyone who has helped us so far especially South Ribble Netball Club who have not only promoted the challenge on social media, but have encouraged their members to support the event.

And every penny counts.” South Ribble Netball Club is running socially distanced training sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays at Balshaw‘s High School. Rainbow Hub has a lot of supporters in Formby area as Katie Maddison from Formby has attended Rainbow Hub for many years. Her parents Lisa and Paul raises funds for the charity – usually through a ball at Formby Golf Club but obviously not in the current situation. I have also been told that Lisa’s sister is going to do the equivalent of several marathons over the coming weeks for the charity
