Formby’s Make Noise 2 Choir have been hand-picked by Royal wedding gospel singers to sing at their L
The Kingdom Choir became a household name following the stunning performance of Stand By Me at the wedding of HRH Prince Harry and the Duchess Of Sussex last May.
Earlier this year, the choir launched a national search for children’s and youth choirs to perform alongside them at each venue of their debut UK tour.
The Formby-based children’s choir Make Noise 2 will join the gospel stars at the Philharmonic Hall Tuesday, May 21st.
Speaking about being selected by The Kingdom Choir, choir director Catherine Last said: “Make Noise 2 is so honoured to be able to share a stage with the amazing Kingdom Choir. We are so very proud to have been picked and we can’t wait to sing at the Liverpool Philharmonic.”
The 18-date UK tour in April and May includes a first anniversary celebration at the Royal Albert Hall in London, a year to the day after the wedding at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
Karen Gibson, conductor of The Kingdom Choir, said: “We had such an amazing experience to be part of the Royal wedding, and we have been truly inspired by everything that has happened to us during this past year.
“It’s been tough to choose the choirs, but so lovely to see so many singing communities out there. From personal experience, I know what singing can do for a person, so sharing that with young people across the country is a really special thing for us. I hope we can make a real impact and inspire a new generation of singers.”
The choir’s rendition of Stand By Me went straight in at Number 1 on the Billboard Gospel Songs Chart after the Royal Wedding and received more than 10 million views on YouTube.
From then on, 2018 was a whirlwind year for the choir, with TV performances on shows such as Good Morning Britain and alongside Madness for the BBC1 New Year’s Eve concert, and closing the Invictus Games in Sydney.
The choir has also released its debut album Stand By Me via Sony, which features the title track as performed at the Royal Wedding, as well as versions of Beyoncé’s Halo, John Legend’s All Of Me and Stormzy’s Blinded By Your Grace Part 2. It also includes original track Chases, written by members of The Kingdom Choir.
The choir consists of seasoned male and female vocalists, chosen for their high-quality delivery of choral meets gospel. They’ve been featured in the film Tube Tales, the TV series Maisie Raine, an Orange advert, and alongside the BBC Philharmonic for the Radio 4 Easter Sunday Worship.
The choir was founded in 1994 London by award-winning conductor Karen Gibson. The singers, from in and around London, draw from various Christian traditions and are dedicated to creating a sound that demonstrates the community they share through their warm energy and enthusiastic performance.
Prior to performing in front of almost two billion people at the Royal Wedding, the largest audience The Kingdom Choir had performed to was just 200 people.
