Formby Junior Sports Club - Frank's Report 29th Oct

On a bright but very cold autumn weekend there were some dazzling performances from many of Formby Junior Sports Clubs Representative teams. At Inter Club as well, the near Arctic temperature at 9am on Saturday did not affect attendance as the younger members of the club soon warmed up with very active coaching and some great games of football. It was exactly the same at the 10am and 11am start times as well. A couple of extra degrees on the thermometer was very welcome and helped to warm up the very enthusiastic parents who braved the conditions to cheer on and encourage all the children.

FJSC GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

Nearly all the girls’ teams were back in action after a two-week break due to bad weather and half term.

For the first time FJSC fielded an Under 7 Girls’ team. The young team who have only been playing football for a very short time played their first ever game in the Hightown Girls’ League. The team from now on to be called FJSC Under 7 Bobcats learnt a lot in the friendly match against more experienced opponents Marina Sands. As the match progressed the Bobcats began to gel and in the last quarter of the game scored two goals and kept a clean sheet during this spell as well. The first ever goals were scored by Sophia Kamel and Heidi Pybis. All the girls played very well and are looking forward to their next match.

FJSC Under 8 Galaxy played Rainford Rangers. Girl of the game was Milla Johnson. The Under 8’s passed the ball well and created a number of chances.

FJSC Under 10 Tornados hit top form in their encounter with Ravenhead. Joanne Mountain scored her first goals for the team. Sophia Barnes was also a scorer. Girl of the game was defender Elyssa Reece-Archer. Also at Under 10 level FJSC Rockets had a very closely contested match with Bootle. The Rockets played well with Megan Hulse scoring the goals. Goalkeeper Harriet Tunley made a crucial save in the first half.

Kiera O’Rourke the girl of the game for FJSC Under 11 Atletico (spelt the Spanish way like Atletico Madrid), scored twice and Sienna Turner was also on target with a goal in the match with Bellefield. Amber Fortune also played well. It was a very impressive team display.

FJSC Under 12 Hotspurs continued their excellent start to the season with a 7-2 win over Shevington. Girl of the game Paige Leather scored four times. Arianna Casson and Bo Price were also scorers. In the same division FJSC Under 12 Valencia suffered a defeat to a strong Oxton team. Captain for the day goalkeeper Kate Jones made a number of very good saves. All the girls tried very hard.

It was double success for FJSC’s two Under 13 teams. Real came back from two goals down to defeat Remyca 7-4. Evie Law scored a hat trick and there were also two goals from Kaya Jones and one goal from Real’s girl of the game Jess Lynch. Sienna Fallows also played well.

FJSC Under 13’s Albion won 8 nil against Bellefield. Eva Sears opened the scoring. Aaliyah Turner scored three goals including a goal after a spectacular dribble past several Bellefield players. Grace Malone and Lucy Rimmer also scored two goals each. Aaliyah Turner was voted girl of the game.

Finally in the West Lancs League it was a first round cup-tie against Langho for FJSC Under 17’s. In the 5-2 victory Connie Gabriel scored a brave goal, Charlotte Armstrong scored with a long range free kick and there was also one goal apiece for Sophie Dixon, Anna Rutherford and Lily Hamilton.

FJSC BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 15 Whites won 5 nil against Lydiate in the Bootle League. All five goals were scored in the second half. Ben Williams and man of the match Patrick Jones scored two goals each. Tom Elder also scored with a header. The Under 15’s have made an excellent start to the season with three wins, two draws and only one defeat in the six league games played. The team is currently in fifth place in a twelve-team division.

In the Craven Minor League Championship Division, FJSC Under 15 Blacks won 7-2 away at Hesketh Colts. The win takes the Blacks to top of the league with four wins from five matches played.

FJSC Under 14’s lost 7-1 to Dynamo Rangers. Andrew Kimmance scored and right back Jack Allars played well.

There was a twelve-goal thriller in the second leg cup-tie between FJSC Under 13 Whites and Ormskirk Galaxy. The Whites were losing early on but fought back to record an 8-4 win. Scoring the goals were man of the match Marc Whitelaw, Rio Mason, Ellis Parry and Bailey Jones. The aggregate score was 11-6 in favour of the Whites.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks scored first in the match against Birkdale United but lost 8-1. Dylan Riley scored. Paul McGrady played well, goalkeeper James Hughes made some fine saves and Jacob Browne nearly scored from an inch perfect cross from Reuban Dowling. For much of the game the Blacks played well but conceded a flurry of goals in the last few minutes of the match.

FJSC Under 10 Blacks played Hesketh Colts Blue. Finley Richards scored in a very good first half. Thomas Dent was man of the match. Jake Verinder worked tirelessly and Goalkeeper Harry Lofthouse also played well.

FJSC Under 9’s were in action against Phoenix Aces. Charlie Garvey made some brave saves in goal and in a determined second half team effort, Archie Ogden and Dominic Maxwell scored important goals.
