Formby Rotary Club award Joe his RYLA award
Formby Rotary Club recently held a presentation evening for their RYLA candidate Joe Mitchell. He came to the Club to talk about his experience of the Rotary Young Leadership Award. The Rotary Club had sponsored Joe to take part in the course which took place in the summer at Arthog Activity Centre in Wales. The award aims to build confidence, communication, team building and leadership skills. Joe was interviewed with a number of other candidates from Formby High School. The course is a mix of Duke of Edinburgh award, Outward Bound and the Krypton Factor and aims to take the participants completely out of their comfort zone. It was evident from Joe's excellent presentation that he had thoroughly enjoyed the experience and gained a tremendous amount, not to mention the new friendships that had been forged over the five days of the challenge. Joe joined the Rotary Club with his Mum Andrea and Formby High's Head of Sixth form, Mark O'Shaunessey for a meal before giving his presentation. The Rotary Club would like to thank Joe's parents and Mark for their support of Joe's efforts. Thanks also go to Formby High School for their continued support of this initiative. The photograph shows Joe receiving his award certificate from Club President, Alan Gibson.
