Festival in the Formby Pool park this weekend
The very first Festival at Formby Pool Park this weekend has so much to offer for all the family including fairground rides, BBQ, games and entertainment. Starts at 12noon on Saturday 4th August.
The brilliant Merseycats stage will be there throughout the weekend to entertain everyone!
Merseycats, The Rock and Roll Children's Charity, founded in 1989 by some of the original Merseybeat bands of the 60’s have been raising money by playing Live music for nearly 30 years now. All the money raised by Merseycats, either at The Oldy Club in Aintree where we meet for a great night of Live music every Thursday night from 8pm or on our outdoor performance stage at various events and festivals, like The Festival In The Park.
All the artists who play for Merseycats and indeed our good friend and compere, Mark Jones, do so for absolutely no payment, donating their time and expertise to Merseycats so that all of the money raised can go to sick and disadvantaged children and small children’s charities in Merseyside. Compere: Mr. Mark Jones (Radio City, amongst others) Professional Master of Ceremonies, doing corporate functions and events all over Europe, even for Manchester United’s functions lol, for more years than he will admit to and a fine gentleman as well.
Mark gives up his valuable time during the summer months to be the compere for all of Merseycats charity events and does so just for the love of Merseycats and their charitable works.
Merseycats would be lost without Mark holding the shows together and making sure everything runs smoothly. An excellent four piece covers band with music from the 50’s to 90’s. Tony on vocals and guitar is the driving force behind this great band with his distinctive vocals put to classic songs for all to enjoy. Wally on lead guitar and vocals is the master of song riffs from the era and does amazing backing vocals. Billy on bass and vocals compliments the others in the band perfectly and drives the songs along well. Gary on drums is another rock solid beat master working well with Billy to keep the songs moving along nicely.
