Christmas tree collections for hospice

St. Joseph’s Hospice is urging families to spare a thought for their poor Christmas tree once this year’s festivities are over by arranging for their tree to be collected and recycled in the New Year.

In partnership with UK charity, Just Helping, the Crosby Lions and the hospice’s team of volunteers will be out and about collecting Christmas trees from selected postcodes across Waterloo, Crosby, Thornton, Hightown, Formby and Maghull on 6th and 7th January.

For a suggested donation of just £10, collections are available in postcode areas L22, L23, L31, L37 and L38. Alternatively, families can take their tree to the hospice on Ince Road in Thornton for a suggested donation of £5. All the trees will be chipped at the hospice and used around the hospice grounds.

Julie McAdam, Senior Fundraiser, said: “We are delighted to be working with Just Helping this year as they inspire people to contribute to their local community. We are also very grateful for the support we have already received from many local community groups and local businesses who are providing vehicles and volunteers to collect and recycle all of the trees.

“In particular, we’d like to thank Tony from Heaven on Earth Landscapes, Gary from Big Tree Liverpool, Barry from Adamson Garden and Landscaping, Alan from Yard Work and, of course, the Crosby Lions who support our Christmas tree collections every year.”

To arrange a collection, visit www.charityxmastreecollection.com and register your tree by 1st January 2018.
