Formby Junior Sports Club - Frank's Report 2nd October

Formby Junior Sports Clubs Inter Club Section was as always a hive of activity last Saturday morning. What a fantastic sight it was at Deansgate Lane Playing Fields. Throughout the morning every available blade of grass was taken up by nearly three hundred children all enjoying a great morning of football on offer at FJSC.

The combination of coaching sessions and then matches in which every club member plays each week for an Inter Club team is attracting new members each Saturday. So far this season there have been nearly one hundred new members joining the club.

COACHING SESSIONS

FJSC this season has the help of Everton F.C. We are pleased to announce that Andy Bickley from Everton in the Community is coaching four separate Inter Club age groups each Saturday morning.

At 9am it is the turn of the very enthusiastic Reception group, who are followed by the equally keen Year One boys at 9.30am. These two groups are already showing tremendous improvement and developing their individual skills. The other half of their sessions the children play matches, which is developing their team skills.

As FJSC’s Girls’ Section is one of the few clubs on Merseyside to have been invited to be once again a sister club to Everton Ladies, the Saturday FJSC/Everton coaching programme continues with the Year 6 girls at 10.10am and the Year 10 girls at 11am.

Opportunities for coaching for Inter Club members doesn’t stop there because also available are sessions organised and taken by FJSC’s own experienced coaches during the morning. There are sessions for Year 5 and Year 6 Boys. Every Girls age group from Year Three to Year Nine has coaching at 10am before their much-awaited Inter Club matches at 11am. The Year One/Two girls have coaching at 11am. and also have a match at 11.30am. Other boys’ age groups have midweek coaching.

In total there are eleven coaching sessions during the Saturday Inter Club morning.

There are twenty-one Inter Club matches played each Saturday and every member plays each Saturday for one of the forty-two Inter Club teams.

The good news for anyone still wanting to join the Inter Club Section – new members are always welcome so parents please bring your children along.

At 2-2 the match went to penalties. Last weekend in another competition there was a successful penalty shoot-out but this time the Under 18’s lost out 6-5. FJSC Under 11 Blacks lost to Redgate Green. Goalkeeper Caleb Johnson saved a penalty and Zach Beaumont- Jones and Marcus Rogan went close to scoring with a couple of chances.

INTER CLUB NEWS

Shirts have been given out in some age groups instead of using training tops or bibs.

Children are asked to look after the shirts during the season and to only wear these shirts for Inter Club matches. Please make sure they are worn on match days as already a few children forgot to wear them last Saturday.

GOALS – Parents are asked to please help with goals when they arrive for the first match of the morning so that the 9am matches can start on time.

Parents of the girls are asked to help take the goals down at the end of the girls’ matches at 12 noon. Very few parents helped last Saturday leaving it to just a small number of parents. More help is needed please.

All Inter Club members can now find their names on the club website and the number of appearances and goals that they have scored.

CLUB NEWS

There are now 418 club members.

A number of girls are acting as mascots for the Everton Ladies versus Manchester City Ladies on Saturday October 7th.

THANK YOU

Last Saturday morning a very kind lady presented me with a black bin bag containing five footballs, which her dog Riley had retrieved from the bushes around Deansgate Lane during the week.

All five blown up size four and five footballs were in perfect condition apart from a few of Riley’s small tooth mark autographs. A big thank you to Riley but can I ask all members to look after club equipment so I don’t have to ask Riley if he would like to become an additional full time club helper.
