Formby Junior Sports Club Frank's Report 19th September 2017

Two hundred and seventy-six children attended Inter Club football at Formby Junior Sports Club last Saturday. This was the biggest attendance for two years and included one hundred and ten girls. There were many new children, in nearly all age groups, “giving football a go” at FJSC for the first time. All these children did well and we hope to see them all back again next Saturday.

It was also a very busy weekend for FJSC’s Representative teams. Twenty-five teams out of twenty- nine were in action for the club in local leagues.

Fifteen boys’ teams proudly wore the black and white striped shirts of FJSC playing mainly in the Craven Minor League but also in the Bootle, Litherland and Netherton Junior Football League for the first time for many years.

All twelve girls’ teams were also in action playing in their red and white striped shirts in the Hightown Girls’ League, the West Lancashire Girls’ League and the newly formed Liverpool Under 15 Girls’ League.

INTER CLUB FOOTBALL

The children in the Reception and Year One boys’ group got off to a good start. Next Saturday each group will also have coaching for half the session as well as a friendly match.

The Year Two and Year Three boys played as one division but next Saturday will be divided into two sections. The Year Two’s will be just one group. The Year Three boys will be divided into four evenly balanced teams.

The Year Four, Years Five/Six and the boys in Year Seven/ Eight will be divided into provisional Inter Club teams with Inter Club names next week. Adjustments will be made if necessary to level out the ability of each team.

FJSC REPRESENTATIVE TEAM FOOTBALL

GIRLS’ MATCHES

FJSC’s two under 12 teams won their matches.

Albion won 5 nil against Hesketh Colts Blue. Aaliyah Turner scored a hat trick and Yasmin Godsall added two goals to the tally in a good team performance. Goalkeeper Sophie Hughes made some fine saves and Ella Stainton played well in defence. Lucy Rimmer was also close to being on the scoresheet.

Real were also in great form and gained an impressive 4-1 victory against Bellefield Academy. Player of the match Jess Lynch scored three times and there was also a goal for Jasmin Stevens. Real’s slick passing was a joy to watch.

FJSC Under 13 Rangers were drawing 3-3 at half time with Remyca. A strong second half display by Remyca sealed a 9-4 win. Scoring for much improved Rangers were Erin Denison, Freya Thornton and Alex Murphy- Worrell. Erin Denison was player of the match for a tireless display.

FJSC Under 13 United drew 1-1 with Dynamo Rangers Under 14’s. The match was played at a fast pace and there were chances for both teams. United trailed 1 nil at half time but a very good second half performance saw United draw level when a very accurate Anna Klaassen corner kick was headed home by Bella Plows. It was a great goal.

Karen Lane scored the goal of the match for FJSC Under 14 Jets in the fixture with Town Green. Simone Jones nearly added a goal but the Jets finally lost 6-1. The Jets played very well in the first half.

FJSC Under 15 girls played away at Bolton County. It was the first match in the new Liverpool Under 15 league. Bolton scored four times without reply in the first half. FJSC played much better after the interval. No further goals were scored although Ella Lawson and Sammy Godsall came close on a couple of occasions.

FJSC Under 16’s played Cadley, a new team to the West Lancs League. Cadley opened the scoring but by half time FJSC had gone into a 2-1 lead with a goal each from Sophie Dixon and Anna Rutherford. Cadley fought back scoring twice to lead 3-2. FJSC had a few chances to draw level. The closest effort being a spectacular long shot from Nanci Farley but Cadley held on to gain a slender victory.

FJSC Under 11 Hotspurs played Oxton Ladies. Captain for the day was Chloe Price. Izzy Conway certainly had her shooting boots on scoring four times in six minutes. Also on target with goals were Paige Leather, Ellie Todino and Chloe Price.

New team FJSC Under 11 Valencia continued to show much improvement and played well against Town Green.

FJSC Under 10 Atletico (spelt the Spanish way like Atletico Madrid) had four girls making their debuts in the match against Remyca. All the girls - Grace Gabriel, Alannah Beaumont-Jones, Ellie Greenwood and Macey Taylor fitted in very well to the squad.

FJSC Under 9 Tornados played well as a team against Marina Sands. Isabella Moore, Isabelle Parkinson, Maisie McDowell, Elyssa Reece-Archer, Lucy Duncan and Holly Foster were all scorers.

FJSC Under 9 Rockets had an exciting and very even encounter with Rainford Rangers. Hannah Jones and Harriet Tunley scored.

BOYS’ MATCHES

FJSC Under 18’s played the whole match against Fleetwood Hesketh with only ten players. Hesketh led 2 nil before the Under 18’s showed great fighting spirit to comeback and draw 2-2 with one goal each from Ed Lowe and Joe Mulhall.

FJSC Under 14 Whites lost 2-1 to Northfield in the Bootle League. Oscar Thompson scored and man of the match was Dan Griffin.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks played well against Churchtown Athletic and had many opportunities to score but lost 2-1. Conor Leyland scored the Blacks only goal after some excellent wing play by Sam Cousens. Man of the match was centre back Jack Adamson. FJSC Under 13 Blacks scored six times in a high scoring match with Rufford and Holmeswood but still lost.

Matteo Heaney, man of the match Rio Mason, Bailey Jones, Luke Honour, Ellis Parry and Bobby Hersey all scored for FJSC Under 12 Whites in their win against Redgate Black. FJSC Under 12 Blacks created enough chances to win the match with Hesketh Colts Blue but lost 5-3. Man of the match Jacob Lewis scored a brace.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks played Burscough Dynamo Green. In a good team performance Dylan Riley, Zach Beaumont- Jones, Reuban Dowling and Jack Yarwood all scored goals. Man of the match was Calum McNally. Jake Ashcroft and Dominic Baines scored for FJSC Under 11 Whites in the match against Crosby Stuart.

FJSC Under 10 Whites played a home match against Southport and Ainsdale. Jamie Simpson, Lewis Parker, Nathan Cousens and Corey Ashworth, after an excellent dribble by Jake Stanton, all scored.

FJSC Under 10 Blacks played away at Phoenix Avengers. The new team is gradually improving. Man of the match was Jake Latchford. Also playing well were Bowie Mavers and Jude Williams.

Ivan Weights, Luke Irvine, Joe Hughes and Luke Lewis were all on target with goals for FJSC Under 9 Whites in an entertaining match with Churchtown.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks also gave a good account of themselves in a very good display against Ainsdale Blue. Liam Kirk, Aaron Rymill, Koray Murray-Cakar, Harry Lofthouse and Finley Richards were all scorers. Man of the match was Thomas Dent. FJSC Under 9 Rangers tried hard but met a Southport Trinity in top form.
