RNLI Fundraising Day at Blundellsands Sailing Club
RNLI Fundraising Day at Blundellsands Sailing Club in Hightown was a great success.
Blundellsands Sailing Club held its annual RNLI fundraising day on Sunday 9th July. The event attracted a large number of visitors who enjoyed a visit outside the clubhouse by the wonderful new Hoylake Shannon class lifeboat, their Inshore Rib and splendid Hovercraft. The crowd also enjoyed the visit by the Southport lifeboat.
The day was made more enjoyable by the lovely weather, a bouncy castle for the children and two bands, one of which was the Shanty Kings who played outside in the warm sunshine. The club bar was kept busy, as were the two lads Mike and John cooking at the BBQ.
All in all a great day which has raised several hundred pounds for the service provided by our selfless sea rescue men and women.
The Blundellsands Sailing Club established in 1907, is situated on the foreshore at Hightown and is adjacent to the River Alt estuary which flows across the shore to its confluence with the River Mersey estuary to the west. The club have some 60 sailing boat moorings laid in the Alt estuary.
