Bill Esterson regains Sefton Central seat with over 32,000 votes

Bill Esterson has been re-elected MP for Sefton Central

The Labour MP had previously held the seat for seven years - since its creation in 2010 - and won the seat back with a bigger majority than ever (63% of the vote)

Turnout for Sefton Central was 75.7%, an increase of 3.3% in 2015.

Bill Esterson received 32,830 votes; Jade Marsden (Conservative) 17,212; Dan Lewis (Liberal Democrats) 1,381 and Mike Carter (Greens) 653.

Speaking after the result was announced, MP Esterson said: "It is an enormous privilege to be elected as the Member of Parliament for Sefton Central; to go to London to represent this fantastic constituency, these incredible people, in the House of Commons.

"And I'm delighted to have been re-elected with an increased vote and vote share"
