Formby Junior Sports Club Frank's Report 20th February 2017
There was nearly a full programme of fixtures at the weekend with the majority of Formby Junior Sports Clubs Representative teams in action. Inter Club was also back in full swing after the previous Saturday off due to the start of the half term holiday.
BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 7’s and Under 8’s continue to show continued progress this season as all five teams are developing as their team play improves with every outing. FJSC’s two Under 7 teams have faired well in only their first season of competitive football. The Whites produced a very good performance against Redgate Yellow with Dominic Maxwell, Dylan Madeley, Jamie Jawook and man of the match all scoring.
FJSC Under 7 Blacks played Hesketh Colts. Max McBride was voted man of the match and scored the goals together with Lewis Forsyth and Raffy Davies. The Blacks also played Liverpool Academy. The first match was a 2-2 draw. The Blacks played a second game and lost 4-2. All the boys thoroughly enjoyed the experience and each squad member played extremely well.
FJSC Under 8 Rangers played well against Churchtown. Steven Friar scored his first goal of the season and James Savage and Finn Bauer were also on target with goals as Rangers continued their impressive run of good form. Luke Lewis, Joe Hughes, Ivan Weights and Connor Daulby produced the goals for FJSC Under 8 Whites in the fixture with Redgate Black. Alfie Griffiths played well in defence and Charlie Nuttie was very confident in goal. Joe Hughes was man of the match. FJSC Under 8 Blacks played a strong Town Green Blacks team. Thomas Dent scored, Harry Lofthouse made some brave saves in goal and Aaron Rymill worked hard in midfield.
FJSC Under 9’s showed great determination against Churchtown Lions who are one of the best teams in the age group. Charlie Lynch had a superb game in goal and was voted man of the match. Ben Murphy scored the goal of the match with a thunderous long -range shot. Lewis Parker also scored after another assist from Corey Ashworth.
Jack Yarwood, Sam Mycek and man of the match Dominic Hamilton scored for FJSC Under 10 Blacks in the high scoring match with Southport Trinity White.
FJSC Under 11 Blacks had a very even match with Ormskirk. There were chances for both teams but few goals down to some very good defending. Callum Williams scored with a spectacular shot. Goalkeeper Taylor Twentyman produced another excellent display. Thomas Walker worked tirelessly in midfield and Jacob Lewis was a constant threat in the Blacks attack. Man of the match for his non-stop running in midfield was Anthony Webb.
FJSC Under 12 Whites played well and won 4-3 against third placed Ormskirk in the Championship Division.
FJSC’s two Under 13 teams were without a match but there was one game played in the Under 14 Championship Division. FJSC Under 14 Blacks gained another valuable three points at the expense of S. and B. Rangers. Max Cowen-Carr, Callum Richmond, James Cunningham, George Treble and Tom Harrison were all on the score sheet. Man of the match was Sam Kendrick for a good all round performance. The Blacks lead the division by three points from league title challengers Southport Trinity White who have played one match less.
FJSC Under 15’s remain top of the league following a win over Redgate. FJSC hold a two- point lead over Brick Juniors. Both teams have played the same number of matches but still have to play each other, scheduled for the last fixture of the season.
GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
Under 14 Girls
FJSC Under 12 Rangers drew 2-2 with Litherland Remyca in the Hightown Girls’ Spring League. Alex Murphy-Worrell gave Rangers the lead but Remyca soon drew level. Lily Hall soon made it 2-1 after a slick inter-passing move. In an exciting finish to the match Sophie Bennett featured in defence. Shortly before the end Remyca equalised with an unstoppable shot to rescue a point. It was a very good team effort by Rangers.
In the same competition FJSC Under 12 United defeated Churchtown Athletic 3 nil with all the goals being scored in a scintillating first half display. Girl of the match Freya Thornton scored twice. The second goal came after Bella Plows and Lauren Holden had dispossessed the Churchtown forwards and set up the in form striker to finish with aplomb. Hannah Allmark added a third goal just before half time. The defensive unit of Evie Stanbrook, Amy Green and Mia Shalliker kept Churchtown at bay in the second half. Yasmin Jones’ high pressing was also an important feature in another pleasing team effort.
In the Championship, FJSC Under 11 Real and Bellefield were equally matched. Ruby Houghton and girl of the game Maisie Cox scored. Goalkeeper Emily Ball handled the ball with confidence.
FJSC Under 10 Hotspurs were back to their best in a very hard fought cup match with Oxton. Paige Leather and Ellie Todino scored in the first half. Aimee Walsh made some important saves in a very nail-biting finale.
FJSC Under 8 Rockets enjoyed a great match with a very determined Ormskirk West End. Erin Riley scored her first ever goal for the Rockets. Megan Hulse and Florence Raikes were also on target with goals. It was the team’s best performance of the season so far.
