X-Factor star and Dancing on Ice winner is to turn on Formby Christmas Lights this year
The date for Formby Christmas Lights Switch-on is set for Sunday 27th November. The festivities start about noon with fairground rides, Christmas stalls, live music, lots of hot food vendors and we are delighted to announce that former Brookside child star Ray Quinn is the celebrity switching on the lights at 5:30pm. Ray is a great vocalist too, and was runner up to Leona Lewis when she won X-Factor and he was the 2014 winner of Dancing on Ice! Festive fun and yuletide entertainment for the whole family.
The Formby Christmas Light switch on is a very popular event with over 6,000 people descending on last years festivities.
Sky TV's Neil Newton and Sandgrounder's Breakfast Show host will be hosting the days events with Sandgrounder Radio Southport.
The highlight of the day will of course be Ray Quinn when he switches on the lights at 5:30pm. Ray Quinn's only piece of mis-fortune was to come up against Leona Lewis in the 2006 edition of The X factor where he finished as runner up.
Ray's debut album ‘Doing It My Way’ entered the UK album charts at number one, going on to sell over 300,000 copies. Ray first came to our attention when he played Anthony Murray on Channel 4’s Brookside going on to play roles in other many TV shows before finally turning his attention to his true passion and entering The X factor, appearing in the 2006 series seen by 12.6 million viewers.
Following the success of X factor & ‘Doing It My Way’, the next step for Ray would be the West End and combining all his talents he appeared in some of the biggest hit shows. Grease, Dirty Dancing and Legally Blonde highlighted just how versatile a performer he was. He also went on to star in the 2009 Saturday night show ‘Dancing On Ice’ which he not only won but was also crowned Champions of Champions in 2014.
Ray returned to the studio in 2015 to start work on a new commercial sound that would return him to his music with an album due for release in 2016
And now he is switching on the Christmas lights in our Bubble! Fantastic! Watch this space for more information about the switch on.
