Formby Junior Sports Club news and Frank's report
FRANK'S REPORT 03/10/16
The success story so far this season has been the popularity of Formby Junior Sports Club’s Inter Club Section.
Two hundred and eighty-five children took part last Saturday and it is pleasing to see that the concept of Inter Club football (everyone plays) is still held in the same high regard as it was fifty-seven years ago in 1959 when Formby Junior Sports Club was founded.
All the Inter Club Divisions are now underway. There were wins for Formby Grasshoppers (sky blue), Sandune Rovers (purple) and Cross Green United (orange) in the Year 6/7 age group to be known as Boys’ Super League Division One.
In the Year 4/5 section (Boys’ Super League Division Two) there were victories for Albion (green), Hotspurs (yellow) and Argyle (Sky blue).
The previous Year 2/3 age group was divided into two new divisions. With a few minor changes to be made to even out teams the two new divisions went well. The Year 3 group will be called Boys’ Super League Division Three and the Year 2’s will be the Boys’ Super League Division Four.
The younger age groups (Reception, Year One boys and Year One/Two girls) all continue to be settling down well with their coaching sessions and small- sided games.
The Girls’ Year 3/4/5 section is to be called Girls’ Super League Division Three. The Owls (pink) went top of the division after defeating second placed Kestrels (orange). Eagles (yellow) drew with Magpies (purple).
All four Year 6/7 Girls’ teams playing in the Girls’ Super League Division Two have four points each. They are Stingrays (green), Dolphins (blue), Sharks (yellow) and Seahawks (orange).
Flamingos (yellow) are in pole position in the Girls’ Super League Division One for the Year 8/9’s. Also in this section are Wildcats, Hornets and Wombats.

Yasmin Godsall, Aalijah Turner and Harvee Hindley came close to scoring for Albion but were thwarted by some excellent goalkeeping from Rangers keeper Helena Davies.

To complete a wonderful adventure all the girls had their photographs taken with some of the Man. City and England stars such as Toni Duggan, Karen Bardsley, Nikita Paris and captain Steph Houghton.
FJSC MEMBER HAS EVERTON NIGHT TO REMEMBER
Corey Ashworth was the official Everton mascot at the Everton versus Crystal Palace Premier League match last Friday evening. He met all the players in the home team dressing room and shook hands with the Everton players as they all signed an Everton shirt for Corey. Once the players had warmed up it was Corey’s turn to take to the Goodison Park turf and score a couple of goals in the famous Gladys Street goal. To complete a memorable evening Corey led the Everton team out on to the pitch in front of a huge crowd. The match was also being televised to millions of people on Sky TV. Corey then shook hands with all the Crystal Palace players. It will be a night Corey will always remember.
