Formby man takes on Tough Mudder for Alder Hey
Formby man Ben Gentles is giving himself a challenge of all challenges, stepping out of his comfort zone to take part in this years Tough Mudder competition to raise money for Alder Hey Children's Charity.
Tough Mudder features a mind-numbing combination of obstacles, unrelenting terrain and the aforementioned mud, you seriously need to muster every little piece of mental grit in the quest for the finish line. Over ten to twelve miles and over twenty obstacles, there is mud, mud and so much more mud!
This course is defined by the UK's thickest, darkest and sloppiest mud and Ben will have to prepare himself to push through it, drag his teammates out of it and find it in places you never thought possible!
Ben's brother Nathan was hit by a car when he was a young boy and Alder Hey Ronald McDonald house helped his family through the trauma when they needed it most. To show his appreciation, Ben ran the Liverpool half marathon last year in aid of Alder Hey and has so far reached his goal of £500. He now has a new goal of £1000 and is hoping that participating in the Tough Mudder event will help him achieve it on 10th September.
Ben would like to thank everyone that has donated so far with a special thanks to everyone in Formby's Village Inn, who have supported him.
Alder Hey Children's Charity raise funds to support the pioneering work at their new hospital, Alder Hey in the Park. The support off people such as Ben will help to treat 275,000 young people each year and through innovations and research into childhood diseases and medicine, the quality of life for children worldwide.
