Thieves targeted car parked outside St Luke's church in broad daylight

A woman has told of her upset after her car was broken into in Formby just days before Christmas.
The incident happened yesterday - December 23, in broad daylight outside St Luke's Church, on St Luke's church Road in Formby. The owner left the car for 20 minutes. She returned to find her car damaged and handbag missing.
The owner of the car said:
"Yesterday afternoon in broad daylight I had my car broken into outside St Luke's Church, off Kirklake Road, Formby. My boot lock was damaged and the passenger rear window was smashed in. My handbag and purse in it were stolen. I was only away from my car for 20 minutes. I am a resident of Crosby and thought that area of Formby was a safe place to be!"
" I have since found out this area is known locally as a place plagued by car thefts. Why not put warning notices up to alert people to this fact?
"Can something be done to alert people to this problem as it is a lovely area for walks, such as putting up notices that thieves are operating in this area?"
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
