Simons work has become so well known in Formby now. The National Trust use many of Simons sculptures on their Asparagus Trail (which we will be giving details of shortly). Simon has produced carvings of giant Asparagus which feature on the one and a half mile walk of asparagus trail paths on levelled asparagus landscape in Formby.

Simon says "I’ve done three giant spears in sycamore, and am working on three more,’ he says: ‘And I have three huge pieces of oak out of which I’m to carve some more pieces – one maybe a bench with a representation of Jimmy Lowe.
‘The spears will be dropped into the ground and bolted together to keep them safely in place. I thought about painting them but decided against it - when it gets blowy the sand can be very abrasive.’
As you can see, these are now finished and in place ready for this years National Trust trail.

Simon also carved this amazing sculpture of Jimmy Lowe who was the asparagus farmer who took on Pine Tree Farm on the Weld Blundell Estate in 1925. This sculpture is now placed near the beach in the National Trust in our beautiful Formby.
