Crash in Litherland causes traffic chaos

A man has been taken to hospital after a crash in Litherland this morning.

Emergency services were called to Church Road, near the junction with Kirkstone Road, just after 9.15am after the crash involving a Ford Focus and a Vauxhall Vectra.

A man was taken to hospital with suspected head injuries.

Eyewitness Stephen Carrigan, from Litherland, said: “There were two cars and also a bike lying on the floor nearby, I’m not sure what has happened.

“There was a man sat on the floor with a towel on his head and there were staff from the dentist nearby going over with a first aid kit.”

He added: “It’s causing absolute havoc with the traffic.

“On one side there is no traffic moving and on the other side a lorry has pulled over because the driver got out to help so that’s causing problems too.”

Travel site INRIX said Church Road eastbound had been closed due to the accident.
