Toxteth roads shut down by police incident

A number of streets were closed by police in South Liverpool.

Officers were called to Sefton Park Road at the junction with Croxteth Road, near Princes Park at 9pm on Wednesday.

Nearby Greenheys Road was also cordoned off, and police were stood outside a row of houses.

An inspector at the scene told the ECHO he was unable to discuss the incident.

There was a heavy police presence in the area, with eight police vehicles at the scene, including vans.

Pedestrians were told to walk around the scene by officers guarding the cordon.

The force incident manager said that it was an ongoing incident and couldn't give the ECHO any further information at this stage.
