Formby Junior Sports Club - Franks report

November 4, 2020

Only three Formby Junior Sports Club away matches were played at the weekend. All home Representative team fixtures, Inter Club matches and coaching sessions were all cancelled by Sefton Council due to the condition of pitches after heavy rainfall throughout last
week.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks travelled to Burscough to play the Greens. It was a very even first half but three minutes before half time Dominic  Maxwell broke the deadlock with an opening goal. Tactical changes were made at the interval and the Blacks started to get behind the Burscough defence more often and goal scoring chances were taken by the FJSC forwards. Dominic Maxwell added two goals including a
great solo effort after dribbling past six Burscough players.

Archie Ogden scored four times including two goals scored from outside the box. Luca Massey and Callum Gray also scored. Man of the match was Charlie Garvey who had a great game playing in an unfamiliar defensive position.

FJSC Under 7 Whites produced their best team performance of the season against a competitive Churchtown side. The Whites have been working hard in training on passing and moving and that really
showed on Sunday. A number of the goals came after the ball was played out from the back, into midfield and then behind the Churchtown rear guard. Special mention to Clayton Gilbertson, Jaiden Crosby, Thomas Crutchley and Joshua Halpin who all assisted goals from their passing and movement from defence.

The beneficiary of this was Mason Stringer who had his shooting boots on and scored all of his six goals in the first half. In the second half Clayton Gilbertson, Joshua Halpin and Thomas Crutchley also got
their names on the scoresheet. Joshua Tallon as ever worked tirelessly in midfield and made some great runs.

FJSC Under 10 Whites played well against Burscough Dynamo Yellow. Charlie Jameson scored with a very well-taken free kick just before half time. The Whites doubled their lead when Max Berrie scored a well worked goal. Burscough came back strongly after FJSC lost concentration for a few minutes and conceded three quickfire goals.

The Whites showed grit and determination and equalised with good goal from Harry Nelson. A draw seemed to be the likely result but just like last week it wasn’t meant to be with Burscough scoring the
fourth late on. The Under 10 Whites have shown much improvement in the last two matches.

It is hoped that football receives the all clear at the end of the lockdown and we can start again over the weekend of Saturday 5th December and Sunday 6 th December. As soon as any further news is received all members and parents will be informed. Meanwhile Stay Safe.
