Formby Weekly Market is back on Friday 3rd May on Chapel Lane
Formby weekly market is set to return on Friday 3rd May for the third year running, with loads of stalls for you to explore. On all day until 5pm so plenty of time to take an hour out on Chapel Lane. Whilst you are in the village, don't forget to also visit your local shops which need as much support as possible.
A spokesman from Formby Parish Council said: "The market will start this Friday 3rd May with approximately 25 Stalls and every Friday after that till the inclement weather in October/November"
The market will be weekly on a Friday. The interest in last years market was beyond all expectations when the Parish Council received an unprecedented amount of support from local businesses and most importantly the people of Formby.
Just as last year, the items being sold vary immensely, a lot of which you cannot purchase in Formby itself. There will be Bedding, Fashion Accessories, ladies underwear, Food Stands, Rugs, Plants, Wool, Pet Trade items, Handmade Soaps, Artisan Cakes and Bread.
As mentioned previously the Parish Council is trying to encourage more shoppers into Formby Retail area which is affectionately called ‘The Village’. It has a good varied selection of shops and the Parish Council was concerned that this market may impinge on their trade but, we feel that we have struck the right balance of items being sold by the market traders that everyone will benefit from this venture.
There will be on various Fridays throughout the season when ONE stall will be allocated free of charge to a prominent Formby Based charity in order to promote itself as well as to sell items. These organisations such as The Rotary Club, Befriending Schemes, Cancer Research and many others will have the chance to inform the people of Formby of what their organisations do. The third Market Season in Formby looks to be an exciting event and will put Formby Village in the spotlight again and hopefully bring a lot of much needed patronage to our shops.
