Four men appeared in court after stealing a car in Formby

A car was stolen in the Formby on Friday 5th October. Four men have now appeared in court yesterday for stealing the car.

Merseyside Police arrested and charged four men and recovered the suspected stolen car following an incident on the East Lancs Road on Saturday, 6 October.

Liverpool man Louis Langfield was charged in connection with a police chase involving a stolen car from Formby and appeared in court yesterday 5th November. The police helicopter was called to help officers pursuing the Volkswagen Golf at around 3pm on Saturday, October 6 this year. The car sped along East Lancashire Road towards Haydock, with force cars supported by a National Police Air Service helicopter. The Golf, which was stolen in Formby the day before, was eventually stopped near Carr Mill Dam reservoir in St Helens. Police arrested Langfield, 21 from Old Swan, along with Kieran Murphy, Mark Bleasedale and Jordan McAleer. They all appeared at Liverpool Crown Court this morning, with Langfield and Murphy appearing via video link from HMP Altcourse. Murphy, 22, from Fairfield, admitted dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving whilst disqualified and driving without a licence. The driver initially pleaded not guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, before he spoke with his barrister and re-entered his plea. Bleasedale, 28, from Walton, and McAleer, 19, from Anfield, also pleaded not guilty to this charge. According to the charge, they allowed themselves to be carried in the car while it was driven dangerously, during which the vehicle was damaged. Mike Stephenson, prosecuting, said their trial, estimated to last two to three days, would be listed for the week commencing 1st April next year. Judge Robert Trevor-Jones said Murphy would be sentenced at the conclusion of the trial of his co-accused. Louis Langfield denies aggravated vehicle taking. He remanded Murphy and Langfield in custody, then remanded Bleasedale and McAleer, who appeared in the dock, on conditional bail. Both men were given conditions of residence and told not to contact their co-accused. Bleasedale must also comply with an electronically tagged home curfew, from 7pm to 7am daily.
