Hightown Beach Clean – Sunday 14th January, 1.30pm
The Hightown Beach Clean Group meet each month to clean up local beaches, removing litter and other rubbish which may have been washed ashore. Their next beach clean is taking place this Sunday, 14th January, and members of the public are welcome to come and get involved.
It’s fun and informal, and you’ll get to meet new people while improving the environment for those who use the beach, and the wildlife that live on and around it.

As well as keeping the beach clean, volunteers also take part in surveys at several times during the year, looking at plants and wildlife and also how much plastic is found.
Volunteers don’t have to commit to attending every beach clean-up. Whether you come once a year or every month, everyone is welcome. The Group provide the equipment, all you need to do is wear suitable clothing and turn up.
Volunteers meet at 1.30pm in the car park at Blundelsands Sailing Club, The Foreshore, Hightown, L38 9EY. The Sailing Club is approximately a 10 minute walk from Hightown Railway Station. Once everyone has arrived, volunteers are briefed on health and safety and then the Beach Clean begins!
The Group work in partnership with Sefton’s Coast & Countryside Team and the Marine Conservation Society.
