Formby Homebase apologise for the condition of the free turf

Homebase in Formby offered free turf to their customers on 31st May but, when customers got home, their turf was dead and mouldy.

One customer said: "No wonder they were giving it away for free, I should have known better."

Another said: "This explains why they we're giving it away, too good to be true!"

Homebase manager Phil said: "The turf in our shop only has a shelf life of 4 days, after that, we offer it for free to our customers. We did not realise it was in this state and we offer it with only the best intentions."

He went on to say: "I would like to offer anyone that picked up our free turf that day and it was bad, a couple of bedding plants as a gesture of good will."
