Frank's Report

Formby Junior Sports Club Under 15 Girls have become the West Lancs Girls’ League Champions and FJSC Under 14 Girls’ have reached the semi-final stage of the prestigious LCFA Cup competition.

It was also a very good weekend for the boys with all four top of the league teams winning their important matches. There were victories for FJSC Under 13 Blacks, FJSC Under 14 United, FJSC Under 14 Blacks and FJSC Under 15’s.

GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

Unfortunately the Under 15’s could not complete their league fixtures with a victory against Euxton Girls, losing in the West Division for the first time this season. A win would have seen the girls complete a twelve-match fixture list with twelve victories. However, it was not to be, but to win the league in only their third season in the West Lancs Girls’ League is a phenomenal achievement. Some members of the team started playing football in FJSC’s Inter Club Section only six years ago. For a few of the girls it has been even less time.

After a goalless first half FJSC Under 15’s went one goal down when Euxton Girls scored with a tremendous header. FJSC nearly drew level soon after when an Anna Rutherford shot struck the Euxton woodwork. Nina Macy and Sophie Dixon worked hard in midfield for FJSC but Euxton scored a late goal as FJSC pushed forward in search of an equaliser. The same two teams will contest the League Cup Final later in the season.

FJSC UNDER 14 GIRLS’ REACH CUP SEMI-FINAL

FJSC Under 14 Girls’ played Rainford Rangers in the Quarter Final of the Liverpool County FA Under 14 Girls’ Cup.

Rainford Rangers started well but soon FJSC settled down and midway through the first half Ella Lawson gave the Under 14’s the lead with a well-struck shot. FJSC then doubled their lead after the interval when Lily Hamilton scored after receiving an inch perfect through ball from Holly Pearson. Erin Smith played well in defence and Abby Hobbs worked tirelessly. Goalkeeper Rachel Robinson made an important save late on. Sammy Godsall appeared to have scored a spectacular third goal for FJSC but unfortunately it was ruled out for offside. Josie McIver deserves special mention for a great effort despite being unwell. Girl of the match for an excellent midfield display was Molly Graham.

BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

League leaders FJSC Under 13 Blacks played nearest challengers Phoenix. The Blacks won 4-3 with two goals each from Bill Steel and Carlos Swain-Velasco. Man of the match for a very influential game in midfield was Jacob Williams- Tranter. Carlos Swain- Velasco scored one of the best goals of the season. It was described - “ A cross from the right saw the ball spin up and Carlos – positioned around the penalty spot watched it spin down and mid air back flicked the ball with a scorpion type move that beat the Phoenix keeper to his left. “

FJSC Under 14 Blacks returned to winning ways after last week’s disappointing result. The Blacks won 7-2 against Phoenix in the Championship Division. After being held to 2-2 at half time the Blacks produce a very strong second half performance. Lewis Constable scored four times. There was a brace from James Cunningham and a single strike from Callum Richmond. George Treble was man of the match for a commanding midfield display.

In the Premier Division FJSC Under 14’s United scored three goals in each half to win 6 nil away at S. and B. Rangers Red. The goals were scored by Joe Hampson, Cameron Casterton, Dan Clark, Sean Jones, Joe McElhinney and Matthew Williams.

Owen Highton scored a hat trick in FJSC Under 15’s 6 nil win over Hesketh Colts. Also on the scoresheet with one goal each were Patrick Dutton, Daniel Hughes and man of the match James Honour.

FJSC Under 18 Whites won 3-2 against FJSC Under 18 Blacks. The Whites are now unbeaten in the last four matches. In the same division FJSC Under 18’s lost 3-1 away at Southport Trinity.

Dylan Riley, Jack Yarwood, Sam Mycek and man of the match Oliver Charnock all scored for FJSC Under 10 Blacks in the match at Crosby Stuart. Two of the goals were headers. Goalkeeper Caleb Johnson kept his fourth successive clean sheet in league matches.

Lewis Parker scored in another very good match between FJSC Under 9’s and S. and A. Amateurs. Jamie Simpson played well as did goalkeeper Charlie Lynch.

Dilan Sathiyanathan and Luke Lewis scored for FJSC Under 8 Whites in the match with S. and A. Reds. Man of the match was Connor Daulby. Charlie Nuttie made some good saves in goal.

There was a very even high scoring match between FJSC Under 8 Blacks and Southport Trinity. There was one goal apiece for Liam Kirk, Finley Richards, Thomas Dent and Koray Murray-Cakar. Micky Denison had another excellent match in midfield.
