Formby Junior Sports Club news and Frank's report

FRANK'S REPORT 19 Sep, 2016

There was a great attendance at Inter Club in the Saturday morning sunshine and excellent results gained by Representative teams meant another outstanding Formby Junior Sports Club weekend.

BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams have made an impressive start to the season with four teams topping divisions after a busy nine days.

The teams leading the way are FJSC Under 13 Whites, FJSC Under 14 United, FJSC Under 15’s and FJSC Under 18 Blacks.

This confidence boosting start is already spurring on the younger teams in the club.

FJSC Under 13 Whites have had two recent wins against FJSC Blacks and Hesketh Colts. Amongst the goals in the Hesketh match were Harry Forsyth, Tom Harrison, Oscar Thompson and Jaime Ditchfield. FJSC Under 14 United defeated Southport FC in midweek with man of the match Gerard Casterton scoring five times. Dan Clarke and Cameron Sergison added one goal each. In a much closer encounter Sean Jones and Gerard Casterton again scored in the 3 nil win over S. and B. Rangers Reds.

FJSC Under 15’s won 5 nil against Birkdale SAC with man of the match Owen Highton scoring a hat trick. Pedro Gomes and Patrick Dutton were also on the scoresheet. The strike force of Highton and Gomes were once again scorers as the Under 15’s made it three straight wins after defeating Tarleton Corinthians 8 nil. Oliver Hall and Oliver Morton capped good displays with one goal each. FJSC Under 18 Blacks also lead the way after gaining a hard fought 2 nil win at Lydiate FC Lynx.

Also making an unbeaten start in the Under 18 Division are FJSC Whites. Elliot Evans scored in the midweek 1-1 draw with Lydiate. The Whites also gained a 4-4 draw with Hesketh Colts last Saturday. Elliot Evans scored a fine hat trick with Joe Gallen scoring a late equaliser. FJSC Under 18’s held Churchtown until half time but conceded a number of goals in the second half. Stand in striker Harry Grogan played well. Rob Barker worked tirelessly in midfield and captain for the day Michael Sutch led by example.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks lost 6-4 to FJSC Whites. Man of the match for the Blacks was Callum Davidson who scored twice. Dan King and Andrew Kimmance were also on target. The Blacks won their match against Redgate Green. Amongst the goals were Luke Phillips, Tobias Firth-Griffiths, Sam Cousens and man of the match Kyle Phillips.

FJSC’s two Under 11 teams played in two very close matches.

The Whites played Southport FC. Steven Mordaunt and Bobby Hersey scored. There were excellent performances from Sam Colbourne, Luke Honour and goalkeeper Ben Marsh who was named man of the match. Tom Rimmer and Jacob Lewis scored one goal each against Dynamo Burscough in another good team display from the Blacks. Henry Leason, Ben Hough and Callum Williams all played well. Defender Thomas Walker was voted man of the match.

Sam Mycek and Reuban Dowling scored for FJSC Under 10 Blacks in the match at Southport FC. Man of the match was Jack Yarwood. FJSC Under 9’s played well against a strong S. and A. team. Nathan Cousens and Jamie Simpson scored. Corey Ashworth was very prominent.

All three FJSC Under 8 teams played and all three had pleasing results. Ivan Weights, Finlay Hunter and Dilan Sathiyanathan scored against Town Green Whites. Goalkeeper Luke Lewis mad some spectacular saves. Man of the match Finley Richards, Thomas Dent and Liam Kirk all scored for the Blacks against Redgate Green. Dan Mortimer playing in goal was excellent and Micky Denison and Fraser Holloway also had good matches. FJSC Rangers, in only their second match, played very well against Hesketh Colts Blue. The match had a thrilling finish.

FJSC Under 7 Blacks continue to make good progress as a new team. Archie Beckett, Max McBride, Lewis Forsyth and Raffy Davies were scorers in the match with S. and A. Amateur Reds. Ryan Kennedy made some fine saves in goal.

GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

FJSC Under 15 Girls and FJSC Under 12’s United Girls both made it two wins from two matches played. The Under 15’s won 4 nil away at Dynamo Rangers. Charlotte Doyle scored two and there was a goal apiece for Nina Macy and Ellie Brewer from a penalty. Charlotte Armstrong tackled well and an Anna Rutherford shot struck the Dynamo woodwork. FJSC Under 12’s United gained an excellent 3-2 win against Crosby Stuart. Yasmin Jones scored twice including the winner five minutes from time. Maddy Houghton also scored and Bella Plows was the player of the match.

There were defeats for FJSC Under 17’s and FJSC Under 14’s against Burnley Girls in the West Lancs League. The Under 17’s lost 6-2. Sally Laughton scored both FJSC goals and Ava Shilcock and Rhianna Meehan played well. Excellent Burnley finishing after the interval settled the outcome after an even first half. The Under 14’s lost 2 nil away. Player of the match was Freya Walsh. Goalkeeper Rachel Robinson was on top form. It was a much improved team effort.

FJSC Under 11’s Real played FJSC Under 12’s Rangers. It was a great match in which all the FJSC girls played well. It was a match of two halves. Ruby Houghton and Ava Lewis scored for Real with Hatty Hobbs the team’s player of the match. Alex Murphy-Worrell, Lily Hall and Erin Denison scored Rangers’ goals. Beth Brewer showed excellent versatility in midfield and defence and was the girl of the game for Rangers.

FJSC Under 10’s Hotspurs passing and movement tested Litherland Remyca. Bo Price and Arianna Casson provided the goals in a very good performance by the team. FJSC Under 9’s Atletico played Oxton Ladies Under 10’s in a friendly. Grace Rooney scored and Olivia Ball and Olivia Fallon played well in a very encouraging team display.

INTER CLUB SECTION

Once again numbers increased in every age group on a lovely sunny morning at Deansgate Lane.

Every age group is settling down well after the very busy start to the season and next Saturday the Year Two/Three Boys (six teams); the Year Four/Five Boys (six teams) and the Year Six/Seven Boys (six teams) will all start their matches after an initial trial run of games.

It will be the same in the Year Three/Four/Five Girls Section (four teams) and the Year Six/Seven Girls Group (four teams). A competition will also start for the girls in Years Eight and Nine.

The very popular Reception, Year One Boys and Year One/Two Girls groups will continue to combine half a session of matches with coaching sessions which is already working extremely well. Over seventy children played last Saturday.

INTER CLUB COACHING OPPORTUNITIES

Last Saturday approximately one hundred and fifty children attended Inter Club earlier than their scheduled kick off time in order to take part in coaching sessions.

A big thank to guest coaches Simone Magill (Everton Ladies and Northern Ireland International) and Jordan Parker (Everton coach and England Futsal International). In addition taking various age groups were FJSC’s own qualified coaches- Megan Ball, Fiona Matthews, Colin Hamilton, Dave Ashworth, Derek Brewer and Martin Thornton. There is no doubt that this coaching/ Inter Club match combination is improving the skills of all these very enthusiastic young footballers.

It should also be mentioned that a number of midweek coaching sessions are also regularly taking place involving not only the above-mentioned coaches but also a large number of other club coaches as well.

INTER CLUB ADDITIONAL HELPERS

The additional help offered by willing parents has been welcomed and has been a great help in the organisation of the groups. A very good example has been the volunteers who have been taking age group registers as children arrive. As a result this has speeded up the start of matches.

Goals have been assembled before nine o’clock and dismantled at twelve noon by another group of parents and again this has made a huge difference to the club’s timetabling of matches. A big thank is extended to these willing parents.

Parents who are willing to occasionally referee matches are asked to inform Inter Club organisers. A few parents have already taken the referees whistle and enjoyed the experience.
