Update on Travellers camp on Bill's Lane in Formby.
We have received the following update on the encampment at Bills Lane, Formby.
A legal representative from Sefton Council has been to court this morning and gained the signed summons, which will be served on the Travellers today.
The summons gives notice of a court date set for Thursday (am), which is where the Council will apply for the removal order.
On gaining the removal order on Thursday morning the eviction can then take place – note is it hopeful that they will move themselves when they receive the notice today, we only attend court on Thursday if the Travellers are still on site.
With regards to the unauthorised encampment on Bills Lane, Formby, a spokesperson from Sefton Council provided the following update.:
In order to move the Travellers, the Council is bound by legal process and I can confirm that this has been followed without delay. A Section 77 Notice was served on the Travellers last week and this morning the Council obtained a signed summons from the court which will be served on the Travellers today. This summons provides the Travellers notice of a court date (set for Thursday morning), whereby, the Council will seek a removal order. On possession of the removal order the Council will then arrange for the Travellers to be removed, this is likely to take place on Thursday afternoon or Friday, if they have not vacated prior to this themselves.
I understand residents frustration over this issue and in particular your concern regarding anti-social behaviour of the Travellers and any such incidents should continue to be reported to the police. In the meantime, I can assure you that the Council is doing all that it can to seek the removal of the Travellers. I have also passed on your comments to the relevant Council department for consideration in relation to restricting any further encampments.
