Increase in reports of theft from vehicles in Formby
Your Neighbourhood Policing Team has been working hard to reduce crime in your area but in the last couple of weeks we have seen an increase in reports of theft from vehicles. Over the past few days offences have been recorded in Lingdales, Gardner Road & Duke Street in Formby. We have also received reports of Theft from the National Trust car parks at Lifeboat Road and Victoria Road. We have increased our patrols in the area and are keen to ensure that we catch the people responsible. To help keep your vehicle and valuables safe, there are a number of things that you can do to support us: • Remove all valuables from your car or van such as satellite navigation systems, mobile phones, MP3 players, laptops, money and handbags etc. • Always lock and secure your vehicle. We still receive reports where vehicles have been left unlocked, ultimately allowing free access to offenders. • Park in a safe, busy and well lit areas. • If you plan to temporarily leave items in the boot whilst out walking (handbags) etc, transfer these items prior to parking your vehicle. You don’t know who is watching. If a suspect sees you placing a valuable item into the boot then walking off, this may increase the risk of your vehicle being broken into. Car thieves are opportunists so please don’t make it easy for them. If you would like more information about keeping yourself and your vehicle safe, visit www.merseyside.police.uk/crimeprevention. If you have information about a crime or have any concerns that you would like to raise, please do not hesitate to contact the West Sefton Neighbourhood Team via 101. Please be reassured that your Neighbourhood Policing Team is doing everything possible to reduce these incidents. By looking after your vehicle and keeping an eye out in your neighbourhood, you can help us reduce crime in the area.
