55-year-old man arrested after two men were stabbed in Chapel Lane

A man was arrested after two men were stabbed in Formby in an early-hours attack.

A 55-year-old was detained following the attack in Chapel Lane.

Emergency services were called at around 2.15am to reports that two men had been injured.

One man was treated for a stab wound to the buttock, and the other man a stab wound to the stomach.

The injuries were minor and both men have since been discharged.

A 55-year-old man from the Formby area was arrested on suspicion of assault and taken in for questioning.

CCTV from the area is being examined, crime scene investigators have attended and witnesses are being spoken to.
